Welcome to all Dog lovers & generally Canine minded Folk. I have started this to enable a Thread to be used-in the Pet section with a title 'I love Dogs' so there will be no problems with attracting the right Posters, and the 'wrong Posters' give it a swerverCool. I am mainly a working Dog Lover, I have had-J/Russells, Retrievers, Lurchers. Currently have 2 White Cockapoo's. Mum & Daughter. Not my kind of Dogs(at first) the OH fell in love with the Breed a year after losing the Retriever. Now I couldn't imagine life without them. You either love Dogs or don't, if you do then life without them really is empty. I feel for the none Dog Folk, not knowing the joys of owning Dogs. But I'm not stupid enough to believe just because I love em everyone should. So if you would like to talk Canine, please be my guestSmile

Thanks, Rocky. A great Bambi-esque start to another day. 🙂👍

Thank you👍🏻, I need to add-the Dew pond is a tiny watering hole that has been there for centuries, it is surrounded by willows, no doubt covered by some law for its age. It read like the Deer had gone swimming😊. . .Not so👍🏻

Cheers but I didn't think the deer had jumped in🤣🤣. It's a bit nippy for an early morning swim🙂

Yes thanks for the great post Rocky👍

Rocky and Bambi doesn't quite have the same ring to it as Rocky and Bullwinkle though.🤣

Hope you and your dogs have a great day.🙂

Lovely Rocky👏👏

My day started with our Toast Monster begging for a crust🤣 The eyeballs are a bit hit and miss nowadays, but the snout is still fully operational😁

Thank you TDA, it’s always the last thing to go in a Dog, they bark at the moon but stop because they can smell their food bin being opened 100mtrs away👍🏻😂

That's so true.

When I let Tess out into the back garden in the evening, she often goes for a mooch around the shrubs for ages and calling her name has no effect but rattle the container with her food in and she comes back instantly.😃

That Pavlov bloke knew a thing or two🤣

We don’t do tricks really with our dogs, they are taught the safety basics of sit, stay, come, down, and the kind of manners that makes them a joy to be around and safe to be around other humans and dogs. But I occasionally while away an hour trying to get the “give a paw” routine taught, with varying degrees of success. Female Airedales grasped it quite quickly. However, Bingley, our Airedale dog was more of a challenge (or so I thought). Quarter pound of cheese, cut into little treats, and still no joy. All I got was that tilted head “how does it go” sort of look, every time I asked, and a slight lift of the paw. Then OH pointed out that he was brighter than me, and that he knew exactly how little he did have to do, to get the proffered bit of cheese🤣 1-0 to Bingley.

Labradors🤔 Millie came to us fully ambidextrous, should could give both paws, left and right. But then she would do almost anything for a treat. Choccy? 12 years and counting, he doesn’t show the slightest hint that he understands what is required of him from “give a paw”. I still didn’t know his name at eight months when we got him, so it was easy to change it to something we liked. He’s not greedy though, unusual for his breed. He’d rather be massaged and tickled🤣

You never really know what you are going to get with each different dog, it’s what makes them so interesting. Airedales you don’t train really. One day they do as they’re told, another day🤷‍♀️🤣

It’s a canine thing🤷🏻‍♂️. Canine Psychologists have a word for it with the acronym ’DD’ discretionary deafness. . .It’s down to what they get out of it😂, they got character that’s for sure, I have viewed all my Dogs as family members & as such my patience is always willing to be adjusted in their favour👍🏻. Don’t use the house as a toilet, come immediately to the single whistle(nuclear alert), stay close when out, ignore other Dogs & folk unless encouraged to mix. Oh & don’t climb Trees👍🏻
