CL Price Rises

I have just read a report on FB about a cl owner apologising for putting up her prices.

I thought it a very refreshing reply to some of the large price increases I've seen lately. What cl's owners have to remember is that they are not the only ones suffering from the present climate, so are the members.

I have pasted the article below with some minor changes for identity reasons.

"Just returned from this little gem CL.  It’s *************** at ************, There are EHUs around the edge of the field and a toilet and shower. The owner is extremely friendly and checked with us most days that everything was ok. She said she had to increase the pitch price this year to £15pn, which I said was understandable and still a very good price. Her response was that she didn’t want to increase it too much as WE had to pay so much more for fuel than last year and if she charged too much people wouldn’t be able to afford to use their caravans and motor homes. I thought that it’s a great shame more site owners don’t have the same outlook.".

others who post and read posts especially the newer users are it seems very much wanting extras to almost compare with full fat club sites but at a cheaper price

And we have used Cls in the past but Not in the last few years with OHs condition  most would be incompatible as she now needs full disabled facilitiesundecided

Not so JVšŸ¤·šŸ»‍ā™‚ļø, most demanders of ‘full fat club site’ requests I’ve see are on CT. Those that like the more tranquil sites tend to just get on with it. I don’t remember you ever waxing lyrical of the joys of basic sites.

With the large amount of reviews of Cls that appear on CT above the few who it seems are mostly motor caravan users

Very surprised that some of the posters who have to posted with the usual expected type of reply

Do not seem to give reviews or not use them

Why should I have you read any of my reviews? I have not noted any of yours either about CLs IF you use them

But then your earlier reply was to be expected

As others on CT have posted

Wonder if they do a hand operated type one as well? Give the muscles a bit of a work out. Maybe not.

Other than for bedding, we hand wash clothes when long terming. Little and often seems to be an effective way of keeping up without the need for a machine, on site or our own.

of course, being in the sunshine it's pretty much t-shirts, short and undies only. Dries pretty quickly, too.

You are way off the mark there JV. Those of us who tour predominantly using CLs don’t want or need Club Site clones, with lots of facilities and prices to match. Hence the reason why some of us are posting to say just how expensive some CLs have become.

I don’t have a problem with CLs putting in whatever they want onto their sites, that’s their prerogative and I trust their researched business model, with a price they deem suitable. It isn’t usually our first choice to actively seek CLs with everything laid on, namely because we know they might cost more than we want to pay. It’s not a hard and fast rule, if it’s the only option in our chosen area, giving a perfect location, then we might pay a bit more, simply because it will be part of a tour where our given nightly fee might range from £0-£20 a night, and it will vary greatly at time of year. At the moment, we would be happy with a mown field, a tap, a bin and the peace and tranquillity that goes with it. Which we have found we can get for around £8 per night. Come the cold, the wet, and we will need more. So we pay more.

What reviews JV?, I don’t understandšŸ¤”. I was pointing out its not just newcomers but many established users in fact more so who seek bells & whistles-choice see. Btw, I use all offerings from everywhere in the UK. I never pin myself down to just one thing as that gets stale for me. ‘Try everything at least once’šŸ‘šŸ»

We actually use both methods but only take the washing machine if going on a long tour to out of the way CLs. We never used to but found it increasingly difficult to find a clean launderette that we would want to use and a couple of laundry places lost articles of clothing so we bit the bullet a few years ago and bought a machine. If a site has a washing machine then that's great for the bedding and towels but Mrs.WN does the smalls every day regardless of whether we have a machine with us or not. Machine travels on back seat of the car so no eating into payload.

Never bother taking the machine abroad.

We have actually seen an old fashioned mangle appear out of a caravan in Spain. Amazing what people cram into their outfits.

I think one of those little machines could well be a purchase for us when we get back to months at a time touring. We have been fortunate with laundrettes, always been ok, and never had anything go missing.
