Well, I've just had the email saying we have to register with the nhs test and trace app when arriving on site. As a couple we own standard old school phones which don't have the app facility so are we now discriminated against and can't enjoy our hobby?

Do you have to register the QR code every day of your stay or just once on arrival ?

I would think just on arrival. Assuming the code is in the reception, I would think the last thing they would want is you going back every day to zap it.

I wonder how the C&CC are handling it. I understand you don't enter reception with them. Do they bring the code to you?

But Dido Harding or Serco has nothing to do with the running of the NHS App. I appreciate that you have had an unsettling experience with TalkTalk. However there are tens of millions of people who use SmartPhones to virtually run their lives without any problems. The transmission of data over a mobile phone connection is more secure than say using site wifi because its encrypted.

I would argue that it is far more secure to read a QR code on a phone than leave a piece of paper with anyone and not knowing what happens to that piece of paper when you leave a site. I would imagine the Club deal with this in a secure way by shredding those details once someone has left the site but the nature of bits of paper is that they can go astray with enough personal details for some nefarious person to use them to their advantage?

These people who allow a Smartphone to rule their lives must live on a different planet?  We both have Smartphones, but will NOT have any personal details on either phone.

We do not have FB, Twitter or CMC on our phones.  We do not have bank details on either phone as see no need for it and certainly do not let a Smartphone rule our lives as like to think we are quite capable of doing that ourselves.  Generally we both have location switched off.  Why would you want to use an app to turn on your heating when you can do it yourself when you get home etc?

As for the Track & Trace app it relies on people updating it that they have Covid19 so if they do not update no one is any the wiser. Why isn't Track & Trace mandatory in supermarkets?

It boils down to being smarter than any smartphone and not going to places where you can come into contact with other people.

Steve. I was disappointed to find the C&CC hadn't got going with putting up the QR code on our visit to the Lakes when other local venues had. I hope they've done it now, the codes are usually visible behind a window in most places. You just hold up your phone. point it at the QR code whilst on the app at the venue check in section and it automatically takes a screen shot of the code, no effort involved. Repeat the same as you move around other venues.

That's just to help anyone who hasn't used it yet.

I went to a CAMC site last week and the QR code was on the back of some paperwork I was given.

Unfortunately Surfer there are millions of people who have to go out to work etc and risk daily contacts. The few who can avoid all potential contacts are a rare breed. Therefore contacts occur and the virus, as we have seen, gets a grip. Anything which alerts people to the circulation of the virus breaks the chain at the moment.

It means I arrive home to a toasty house instead of freezing to death waiting for the heating to warm up. I can also interrogate and control my house security system and cameras along with the many things highlighted in posts above.
