Well, I've just had the email saying we have to register with the nhs test and trace app when arriving on site. As a couple we own standard old school phones which don't have the app facility so are we now discriminated against and can't enjoy our hobby?

Slightly OT but with the other Covid  thread locked  next best place.

There has been a vast exodus of of Parisians to their second homes ahead of the curfew with monumental traffic jams.Given the choice of lockdown in a city apartment or a country cottage its not surprising

Traffic jam leaving Paris on 29 October

This will not be happening in Spain, armed Police now set up road blocks to stop people traveling between regions unless you have a permit .

Very big religious weekend in Spain and national holiday on Monday but when Spain says lock down you lock down, daughter has had to stay at home and all festivals have been put on hold.

Does anyone know of anyone being contacted by track and trace because they have been in contact with an infected person on a caravan and motorhome campsite as a result of scanning the QR code, or is that too difficult for the technology to work out.

No the app is providing information on a time and space basis IE the probability that you might have contracted the virus because you've spent time near to someone who has tested positive.

It would have been better if it could have provided information as to where the possible contraction of the virus had taken place as well. It may have then given some indication as to how safe campsites are.

So one way or another you would be informed that you had been in contact with an infected person, and to self isolate, but would you be told where it had occurred.

Posted on 30/10/2020 09:33

I didn't find any information on that. Although as the cornerstone of the App is anonymity I would doubt it.

I have wondered if the algorithms involved work on coordinates but this would not be visible to the general public who would just receive an alert?  Maybe the information is available to those working in the background to work out hotspots, but that's just a guess on my part.

email ....."all members will be asked to register their attendance at our sites through the NHS Test & Trace App to record their visit" - signed Nick Lomas.

I emailed back 1 week ago asking for an explanation why this has become mandatory when the Gov.uk site states that it is an option.

To date there is no reply.

Sites have all details when booking and checking in, anyway. Happy to provide any extra info. But this is going too far.

£12 billion is the cost so far for this "app" which experts have opined as providing "marginal impact". 12 Billion Pounds!

Happy to co-operate, but this amounts to removing one of the few rights left - the right to some privacy, and, aiding and abetting in another NHS scandal.

£12 billion was the cost of "one of the worst scandals in terms of waste of public money" when the NHS programme for IT failed to deliver in 2004-10.

I'll give another week for Nick Lomas to explain, otherwise I will consider terminating my membership and recommending everyone to do so.

I rather suspect the club management has more important things to do at the moment.

The email only says you will be asked to scan the code, not that it's mandatory and Rowena has explained in this thread that use of the QR code and smartphone is not compulsory so there's no need for such excitement.

It's entirely up to you if you leave but it's a storm in a teacup.

You have the right to privacy, stay at home.

If you wish to travel under the current circumstances then you comply. This is to possibly save me and my family so it is not your right to decide.

The track and trace app is poor but is only as good as the information it receives. Ironically the ones least likely to use it are the ones likely to benefit the most from it.

For information, the cost of the track and trace app is £35 million according the Public Accounts Committee hearing about digitisation in the NHS. Of the £35 million £10 went straight into the bin.

The £12 billion figure is the total cost of testing the population for Covid, Probably not all well spent but then hindsight is a wonderful tool to predict the past.

You are not discriminated against, by definition you would have had to be deprived of service. You have not been deprived of services of the club and are perfectly entitled to enjoy your hobby.

If you choose not to comply with the new rules then that is your choice.

In order to help protect the wellbeing of the other members you will be expected to comply with what is the new normal for the rest of society.
