As I am sure you are aware we have been making some exciting improvements to The Caravan Club website over the last few months, some of which have already been introduced, such as the move to Google maps.

The next update will be the new look and feel and navigation of The Club website, which will be going live on Monday. As such the website will be unavailable from 7.45am to 11am on Monday morning and then your new website will be live! Smile

There is problem with the new website as set out below. Looking through Club Together discussions, I have seen the consequences, such as "where have reviews gone?" and "where are directions to the site?" appear in other threads. Sometimes it has been suggested, wrongly in my view, that it is associated with the new booking system.

In a nutshell:

If you use the search box (see spyglass at top right of upload 1) to find a site, Hillhead in this example, you are taken to the old website page with the site's details. This includes access to Reviews and access (via "View on Map") of directions to the site.

If you now select "Book a Touring Pitch", you are taken to the new website page with the site's details (upload 2). This does not provide access to Reviews or directions. So, you need to return to the old website page .. ..

.. ..and herein lies the problem. The website designers forgot to put in a "Back" button that does that! The only way back is to click on any one of the buttons at the top of the screen and start another search.

I manage a sailing club's website. I'd get shot if I made such a basic error.

Rowena. YOU may be excited about the new website.....my wife and I are exactly the converse of excited.

We used to look forward to booking our trips and found booking easy.....not so with the new website.

The booking process and pages are confusing by virtue of  giving and needing too much information.

Finding cost information is not as easy as previous, and the need to provide details of accompanying persons is invasive. Also seeking us to negotiate past booking a tent pitch (which we would if needed without the need to be prompted) is unnecessary.

We feel that (sadly) the new website is yet another indication of the CMC becoming more focussed upon ITS needs before that of its members. Indeed we wonder how many complaints of a similar nature have been received by the CMC and indeed how many there will be in months to come.

Rowena called the changes to the website "exciting" back in 2013. Somehow, I doubt she feels that way about the latest changes nine years on. ☹️

Nine years on, has anything changed? The fact that the first poster to reply, offwego, allegedly on 13/9/22, yet hasn't posted since a review in 2015, speaks volumes about this website.

you'd think that all the late night/over night down time of the web site would speed it up a bit .... it's not done yet!

Oh well .... they've only been working on it on & off for 9 years!
