We've lost count of the number of times we've been here, but we love it every time (come rain or shine)! This year we were lucky to have a very sunny weekend in July. Mrs Jones is just the most lovely CL owner. Stunning location in Snowdonia National Park.
As keen family cyclists, the best bit for us is the direct access to the Mawddach Trail - a traffic-free cycle track (dis-used railway line) between Barmouth & Dolgellau. No trip to Abergwynant is complete without a bike ride to Barmouth, which includes cycling over the enormous rickety wooden bridge at the mouth of the estuary. Young children can be bribed to cycle all the way to Barmouth with the promise of icecreams & a play on the beach. (Ours are now 11 & 14, but it's still a great day out!)
Great views of Cader Idris from the site - one day we will climb it instead of just looking at it! The Centre for Alternative Technology is only about half an hour's drive away, and is a great day out.
Don't be put off by the distance to the toilet & shower. The longer you stay and unwind to the pace of Abergwynant Farm, the shorter the distance becomes. Use your bike to cycle to the loo!
