A Little Piece of Paradise

Fabulous site. What more could you want? Wonderful scenery looking towards Cadair Idris, access to the beautiful Bar estuary and cycle/walking trail to Barmouth to the West and Dolgellau to the East. If you like peace and quiet, a burbling brook and the warmest possible welcome from Doris, go. We will certainly return.

Fab place - simply stunning scenery

We stayed here last September. A beautiful, and extremely scenic site, with a gorgeous - and very flat - bike ride to Barmouth along the former railway line. Owner Doris was lovely, and very helpful. A great CL that we will return to ASAP!

Always a favourite

We've lost count of the number of times we've been here, but we love it every time (come rain or shine)! This year we were lucky to have a very sunny weekend in July. Mrs Jones is just the most lovely CL owner. Stunning location in Snowdonia National Park. As keen family cyclists, the best bit for us is the direct access to the Mawddach Trail - a traffic-free cycle track (dis-used railway line) between Barmouth & Dolgellau. No trip to Abergwynant is complete without a bike ride to Barmouth, which includes cycling over the enormous rickety wooden bridge at the mouth of the estuary. Young children can be bribed to cycle all the way to Barmouth with the promise of icecreams & a play on the beach. (Ours are now 11 & 14, but it's still a great day out!) Great views of Cader Idris from the site - one day we will climb it instead of just looking at it! The Centre for Alternative Technology is only about half an hour's drive away, and is a great day out. Don't be put off by the distance to the toilet & shower. The longer you stay and unwind to the pace of Abergwynant Farm, the shorter the distance becomes. Use your bike to cycle to the loo! Our favourite site in the world (but don't tell everyone!).

August 2012

We stayed in for a week in August, great site with fantastic views from our caravan. Great base for exploring central Wales, not far to local shops etc. As in other review its a bit of a walk to the shower and toilet block, but we used the car on the one occasion when it rained, will re visit at some point.

Beautiful site despite the weather!

We had a wonderful few days here in late June. The field was very wet in places but easily accessible from the track running through it. Stunning views of the mountains when the rain clouds cleared. We loved the walk to the Mawddach Trail directly from the site. Our dogs loved it as well. The toilet block was a bit of a walk away but immaculately clean. We will definitely be returning to this beautiful site. The only problem we had was that we overshot the turn into the site when we arrived hence only 4 stars for ease of arrival, so be vigilant. If you do overshoot there is a large layby a couple of miles or so down the road to spin round in!
