august 2016 Just the best

I have been touring the UK in a caravan for over 34 years and have stayed at many CL sites. This site is a little gem I and 4 other club members have holidayed here every August since the site first opened 5 years ago we all book up our pitch a year or more in advance. This is the best CL I've ever experienced.

Superb CL

Just returned from 2 great weeks on this peaceful CL in a superb setting. All pitches are hard-standing, spacious and fully serviced with free wi-fi and good TV reception. As an added bonus each pitch has some sort of seating or picnic table - a lovely touch. There are lovely walks from site with a nature reserve literally on the doorstep and the cycle path to Sandown and Newport 200 metres from site. If you are a fisherman there are well stocked ponds with good healthy fish immediately behind the CL. This site ticks all the boxes for us. Paul and Chris are very helpful and welcoming but not obtrusive. Morrisons is 10 minutes drive away and there is a convenience store even nearer in Apse Heath. If eating out is on your agenda then The Pointer in Newchurch a mile away serves what must be some of the best food on the island in a very convivial atmosphere. Try the Newchurch lamb shank pie - beautiful! The island itself keeps on giving and there are stunning coastal walks - in fact we had forgotten just how many footpaths there are here - it really is a walkers paradise - and our dogs loved it - but whatever your tastes there is something for everyone. We have stayed on some very good CL sites but in our opinion this tops the lot. It really is a credit to Paul and Chris who have obviously put a great deal of thought and effort to make it what it is - a little gem. Looking to book again next year.

Fantastic CL

Just spent an amazing week at this fabulous CL. The pitches are all serviced, beautifully maintained and all have a seating or table and chairs for guests use. The owners are friendly and helpful but respect your privacy - perfect! Lovely dog walks which Daisy & Riley really enjoyed?? The toilet area is one of the best we have seen and we are looking at dates to come back next year!!

Top Quality Site

My wife and I spent 10 days on this beautiful site. The owners are very helpful and are so friendly it was a pleasure to meet them. The pitches are all serviced and flat. The site is ideally situated for visiting other parts of the Island. The fishing ponds on site are so well stocked that even I caught many good fish. In short visit this site soon.

Marvellous! Peaceful luxury!

Just on last full day of a 9 day break, I love it here! We are both in busy lives and work and wanted a peace and quiet holiday in the countryside with lots of walks on the doorstep for the dogs, this has all that and more. As other reviews have said your own tap and waste on your pitch, the pitches are all individual with their own seating area, we were on pitch 3 with a little fence that protected you from the wind and some garden furniture that gave a lovely touch. The whole holiday has been gorgeous, we were blessed with good weather, even coming across on the ferry it was sunny and we sat out on deck with no jumpers on, straight over from Southampton to East Cowes, all booked effortlessly by Paul for us so made it so easy. Easy drive from boat to mini roundabout at Sandown where we turned left down a smaller road all new tarmac that then turned into a country lane but absolutely fine for our caravan 7.2 m long. We turned straight into a wide gravel drive and pulled into the site uphill which was fine. Our pitch Pitch 3 had been landscaped and is flat, had to lower the jockey when right down to go down a slope which was easy and then onto the flat pitch, beautiful fit! Owners lovely and very helpful, telling us about walks and things to do, I have a long list of things I want to visit next time too. Great walk along the cycle path to Newchurch, turn left into the village and go up the hill to the Pointers Pub, fabulous food! Then we walked out the bottom of the garden and through Martins Wood which was lovely, bit of balancing on logs in some muddy places which was comical, and back down to the cycle path and home. Its just paradise here! Dogs totally exhausted and we're now relaxed and refreshed, thank you! 10/10!

A super Cl site

We have just arrived home after 10 days at Alverstone Ponds, what a great holiday , we were greeted and made welcome on arrival with Chris coming back to us when we had settled to show us the amenities, well what a fantastic set up, not only a beautifully kept toilet but also a washing machine and tumble drier should you need them, a information room with everything from what's on to where to eat and walk, even books and DVDs to borrow. The toilet waste was immaculate and under cover, on all the pitches you have a waste water pipe (supplied) to the drain and a water tap to connect for constant water via our aquaroll and hose, the whole holiday was just perfect even the odd day of rain didn't worry us. The wildlife reserve was well worth the visits, we were allowed to walk the dogson leads and we got to see the red squirrels and birds from the hide.there are lots of other walks just off the site as well as around the lakes,we have booked a longer stay next year, thank you again Paul and Chris for a super Cl site.

what a gem

this will be are 8th time at this cl and we have not regreted it at all, on our very first visit, it was raining on the sunday we found we had a very bad water leak in the corner of the cavavan the wife went to ask the owner if he had a ladder we could borrow,a short time later he came with the ladder and some tools, so to cut a long stroy short he sealed it up for us, we were very grate full to him,so going to this cl it's like going to see some very special friends and also meet up with some friends who see every year at the site, one of the nices sites we have been on
