Handy base for exploring area; good stopover off the M5

Surprisingly quiet given proximity to M5 and railway - neither were intrusive, and it's very handy to reach from Junction 12. Don't be put off if you look at the map and imagine you'll be deafened by traffic - the bird song easily outcompetes any faint background noise. Choice of level grass pitches or sloping hardstanding pitches (owners have supplied a stock of levelling blocks if you need them). Roomy site, plenty of space. Well sheltered by barns and trees. Secure gated access via farmyard - our 7.5m motorhome fitted through the yard fine. Bridleway from site straight out into lovely fields, with plenty of deer & hares to see, good for dog walking. Duck pond and pony paddock next to site. Chicken sheds, silage store and manure heaps all long gone - the only livestock are the ducks and ponies. We stayed 3 nights while we explored the area, and had the site to ourselves after the first night. Nearby Stonehouse has a range of take-aways and a good Coop supermarket. Short drive to Slimbridge wildfowl centre. We would very happily stop here again - nothing fancy, just a friendly farm CL, bedrock of the club.
