Great site.

it's a fantastic spot to tour this part of the world. The site is very flat and I wish I could get my lawn as nice as he has the grass on the site. The nearest pub is quite a walk but has very good food. We walked and biked from the site and you really do have so many great options as to which way to go. It is a very quite spot so if just switching of os you're thing then you will like it. Phone signal is ok but know 3G if thats your thing.

A N.Yorkshire Moors' Gem

This grand CL is easily access, being about 1 ml off the A169, 5 mls north of Pickering, at the end of Lockton village. It has 5 level grass pitches, sheltered on 2 sides from the prevailing winds. Although not far off the main road we hardly heard any traffic noise at all. There is a footpath just outside of the site's gate which is suitable for walking ones dog, although there are also suitable quiet lanes leading from the village. Walks can be made from the site, although a certain level of fitness is required as the area is fairly hilly. Dalby forest is close by where there are many walking routes and off-road cycle trails. At Pickering there is a Lidl and a Co-op supermarket, as well as it's castle and the terminus for the N.Yorks Moors Railway. For those who do not want to move their vehicle, especially those with M/H's, there is a bus stop on the A169, where one turns down to the village.  With free Wi-fi, fair TV and some phone reception this site is a bargain at £11pn and we will certainly return in the future.

Peaceful and secluded

This was our second visit and once again received a warm welcome. The site is tucked away at the end of the village and is quiet little haven, ideally suited for walking and visiting the national park.We will return.

warm welcome

We had a late stay (Sept. ) at Ashfield CL site ,its the first time we have stayed but definitely not the last. We had a warm welcome and easy access to the site,we found our stay very peaceful and relaxing but at the same time within easy reach of coastal resorts and many places of interest. Edward  Florence and our 2 dogs Jeffrey and Milly.

A great little site!

We like CLs as they are generally quiet sites. This little site is a little off the beaten track making it truly peaceful! When we visited the utility company was digging up the village to lay new Electricity cables but even with this going on it was still quiet. The owners are friendly and helpful and will go out of their way to make you feel at home. TV reception is good due to the mast being fairly close and there is even WiFi as well! All in all, a gem of a site! HappyLaughing

One of our Favourites!

Second stay on this lovely CL, which we consider perfect for our needs. Plenty of space, well kept grass pitches, electric hook ups and a tidy service area for water, waste disposal and recycling. Perfectly sited to visit Pickering and Whitby, in a lovely quiet village on the North York Moors. The owners are very friendly, there is no fuss, and the grounds seem very secure and private. There is a lovely dog walk adjacent to the site, and it is easy to walk out from the site on some lovely if challenging walks! An added bonus is the haunting sound very occasionally of a steam train puffing along the valley bottom to and from Levisham Station. The village of Lockton is very nice, with a newly opened tea room and a Templar Church, both worth visiting. Definately a top CL if you like peace and quiet, gorgeous countryside and a friendly welcome!

Peaceful retreat

We arrived to a warm welcome from the owners.  The site is a piece of land next to the owners home and in two sections.  The CL area is clearly fenced and the rest of the land was used by other caravans.  One night there were ten caravans, but the site is able to copy well with this number of vans.  It is grassland, and well looked after.  In the village is a very nice tearoom and we would recommend their Rocky Road cake.  It also operates as a small village store for essentials.  Upstairs is a gallery with work by the owners. There are two pubs, both owned by the same people, one in Levisham and one on the A169 both serving good food.  We enjoyed our three night stay despite the rain and would certainly consider returning.

Very good CL in lovely village

Ashfield is a peaceful location but not isolated as it is just at the end of the village of Lockton which is very attractive with wide grass verges. Unusually we were required to pay on arrival, but I don't mind this as it saves having to search for owners at the end. The field is a good size and condition (though I think the term 'lawned' is getting a bit stretched these days). Facilities on site are good, though the bins could be more accessible and the contents signed. Though Lockton itself is level, prepare for very steep hills on walking to the next village, Levisham. There is no pub in Lockton (but a new tea room is opening) but the Horseshoe Inn at Levisham is highly recommended.
