Ease of arrival/welcome

We will be back again at Baker's Farm CL.

We had the good fortune to be booked on this popular CL for 28 nights in July/August all experiences were positive including the £175 fee for the 28 night deal. The good sized pitches are tucked away from each other and all enjoy marvellous views of the Malvern Hills, a beautiful range of half a dozen or so peaks that just seem to erupt in front of you from the flat, wide expanse, of Castlemorton Common . The sunsets are an incredible sight to see, the sun inching its way down over the horizon sending shadows and darts of light across the Hills and Common, then as darkness settles, the twinkling lights of the distance hillside town of Gt Malvern seem to hover in the sky. It really is magical. The grass is kept short with the cuttings thoughtfully collected from around the pitches, the site should really be described as 'lawned' I've even seen Boules & Bowls being played. It's really peaceful and relaxing. 'No generators' according to the CC site book aids the tranquility as did watching the Swallows darting and swooping around us and then feeding the chicks nested at various cubby holes around the farmhouse. At dusk bats come out to compete with them in an aerial show of flight dexterity. The jovially named 'Clubhouse' a stout garden shed, provides ample books to read and a wealth of local information as well as a visitors' book full of rave site reviews and gushing compliments of the the owners, Gordon and Pauline, all worthy I say. There is info on any amount of walks, the fit amongst us can walk the full ridge of the Malvern range straight from the site. There are no electric points or generators so for extended stays it's solar panels or use the battery charging facility on site, for me these are positives, you don't hear Corrie on the TV from the next pitch here! Our dog loved it , through the gate and off the lead, (excepting when the migratory sheep and cows aren't elsewhere) onto open common as far as the eye can see. It's so good for dogs even the one dog rule seems sensible, prevents the place resembling Battersea Dogs Home I suppose. The local 'Plume of Feathers' country pub, a traditional black wood and white plaster affair welcomes dogs inside but not in the little restaurant room, is an easy 15 minute walk across the Common. It does the usual country pub food, not very inspired but not silly prices. The outdoor grassed eating area is nice and was very popular in the glorious weather we had. The Theatre in Malvern is a delight as is the spa town itself, Ledbury at the other end of the Malvern range is also a lovely old town. Upton upon Severn is well worth a visit, you can catch a return boat trip to Tewksbury from the centre of town. Now back in Manchester I'm already missing my morning dog walk cum newspaper run over the Common to the village shop and the jaunt back, greedily anticipating brekkers in the awning. (Maybe I need to get out more!)
