Beautiful views and peace. Little unkept..

I have used this site previously and agree with the recent reviews. Mrs Hale is delightful and the site has stunning views. It is looking a little tired. The grass had not been cut for a while. There is only one water point for clean water and for rinsing out toilet cassette. A couple of the vans seem to have been their for ever.. with permanent residents, which are very tatty... A little bit of TLC i am sure will help, it was harvest so the farm yard was busy, as to be expected

A real let down

We have to agree with the last reviewer. We used to stay here as a favorite place about 6 years ago. We came back in March after a break from caravanning and got a huge shock. The views were just as lovely but it was so run down. The waste disposal was totally inadequate and no way of washing out the cassette. The grass hadn't been cut and the Caravan we had seen there 6 years before was still there and  a permanent fixture...also rundown and filthy.  There was also a parcel delivery chap who seemed to be there long term, as he went off to work every morning.   It seems the lovely Mrs Hale, who we adored has handed over the reigns and whoever runs it now has given up caring. What a huge shame!!!

Could be a lot better.

I feel a bit of a turncoat writing this review as, the welcome from Mr & Mrs Hale was excellent, but the reality is that the site could be improved upon quite significantly. So to deal with the issues that I found in order of importance to me. 1. The toilet disposal point was a rusted through manhole, with no facility for washing out the cassette. 2. The grass was very long and had clearly not been cut for a long time, the waste water from previous campers had been discharged into it leaving rice, pasta etc in the grass, quite unsavoury. 3. There is clearly a permanently inhabited van here, it can be seen on street view, which is date stamped as 2011.  It is still there. The negatives said, the views here are stupendous, and its close to places of interest, and some good pubs. It just needs a bit of pride taking in it.

Amazing tranquility in rural countryside.

Most lovely couple who are warmly welcoming to their farm; nothing is too much trouble. The unspoilt nature of the campsite provides the peace for a restful stay to an area which offers a varied choice of activities. Walking the Ridgeway is just one, Avebury is nearby and the town of Marlborough has some interesting shops, varied restaurants and cafe's. The site is managed well and it is certainly one to experience if visiting the area. Not suitable for those who want to watch TV or have mobile phone reception, but that's why we like it!
