Beautiful off-the-grid CL

We stayed here for one Saturday night, mid July, at very short notice. The site is a large stretch of relatively level grass adjacent to an old coaching road, that now forms part of the Taff Trail, running along the Tarrell valley alongside the A470. There was only one other motorhome here for the night we stayed. It was a stunning spot to stay, our two under-5-year-olds were happy racing about the grass and watching tractors and cyclists occasionally trundle along the lane. It was a beautiful, gentle stroll along the lane to the farm itself, through wonderful countryside, where the owner was very welcoming and friendly. On our second morning we climbed up a track through the nearby woods, Coed Carno; a lovely walk up a woodland path before opening out onto rough grassland as it climbed towards the ridgeline that runs along to Pen Y Fan and its neighbours. This CL would make a great base for exploring these hills further and for the more demanding routes to the peaks. There was a constant background hum from the A470, but it was not intrusive - the call of the wild kites and buzzards that soared overhead was far more interesting! We saw a heron flying low along the river during our stay too, and lots of tiny frogs jumping across the track in the woods. There was a water tap a short distance away (but remember to bring a hose connector for direct hook-up, or containers) and although there were bins here, they didn't seem to be for public use so we took our rubbish with us - but we could have been overly cautious in this, as we didn't investigate for long on our way out. Beautiful, simple site. We shall certainly be back.
