Unexpected gem of a site

Arrived at Blythe House Farm on 20/3/17, got a warm and friendly welcome from George the owner. His wife Brenda was very friendly and helpful too. Lovely peaceful site with two areas to pitch up, we stayed on the back field the pitches were hard standing and level, electric hook up with water and waste point nearby. There is a shower and toilet on site which was spotless. It's an lovely walk to the nearest pub which has a lovely friendly atmosphere. Great base for visiting Lichfield and there are some national trust properties within 20 miles. Would recommend this site to anyone, really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return when we are in th area.

Came to the rescue!

We were bitterly disappointed when we arrived at the CL we had chosen and booked ahead. It was very scruffy, and surprisingly, over-booked with what I very much doubt were touring caravans. No way could have stayed there. Mr Astley came to the rescue when we phoned to ask if he could fit us in at very short notice. We were warmly welcomed. What a contrast!! A tidy, well maintained site with excellent facilities and a grand view over fields to the river. A proper CL, run by Mr Astley in the true spirit of the club. Thank you, we will recommend you and hopefully return.

Easy going site with good access to the National Memorial Arboretum

Came here primarily to attend the commemoration of the First Day of the Battle of the Somme at Alwras. (National Memorial Arboretum). A pleasant and peaceful site, with adequate facilities and a good shower. Owner very friendly. Care needed on approach as the road is quite narrow in places - as some 'boy racer' in a Merc convertible found to his cost whilst I was leaving the site!! Would definitely come again.

The Swans

A lovely farm site, part hard standing part grass. Spent Mon to Fri with a pair of swans, a kingfisher, pigeons(!!), sheep, amongst a multitude of other creatures (see other reviews). Handy for National Memorial Arboretum, Lichfield, Shugborough (NT) and Cannock Chase (lovely walks and Mountain Bike trails for ALL abilities). Follow approach instructions given in Club book to reduce distance on narrow lanes. Recommended and will revisit.

Perfect couple of days away!

We selected this CL as offering all that we needed, in a fairly close proximity to Lichfield. Booking was easy and very welcoming, we were shown around all the facilities on arrival, and opted to stay on the lovely rally field section as opposed to the separate CL field. Both are very nice, with plenty of room, lovely views and adjacent to open water, namely the River Blythe and various ponds. Plenty of well kept hedges give shelter from winds without spoiling the view. The site has a small toilet block, with two toilets and a shower, cleaned daily. We use our own, but others may need. The hardstanding was very level, and was adjacent to lovely fields for dog walking, so our dogs loved it, they could have a proper walk on site and were made very welcome.  The wildlife and bird life is superb, with swans, egrets, waterfowl, small birds galore. The farm is very well kept, everything is very neat and tidy, and nest boxes are all over, encouraging wild visitors. It is a very quiet spot at night, with little light pollution so good for star gazing. Also on site are a few workshops, but they are very quiet, one of which is a micro brewery, very nice! The final approach road is rather narrow, but there is little traffic and plenty of passing places, so with care, shouldn't be too many problems. We had a lovely time here, enjoyed Lichfield with its fabulous Cathedral and nice town Centre. Thank you to the hardworking owners, and all for a very small fee!

Frequent visitors.

We have been visiting this site for many years, when it was a farm, & have watched the development of this site with keen interest,  The River Blythe that runs through this site is abundant with wild life, nesting boxes, Owl boxes provide habitat for various birds, Egret, Barn Owl, Buzzards, Heron, Kingfisher, plus others abound in this idyllic setting, The walks around the farm & area are normally good & traffic free, Must recommend The Bull & Spectacles in next local village for a good wholesome lunch. All in all this is one of our most popular sites to visit, & over the years we have got to know the owners very well, They are what you expect owners to be, welcoming, warm & friendly & very helpful. A site to put on your calendar to visit..

Late Autumn Break

We stayed two nights in late autumn to visit the National Arboretum near by. The grassed areas where out of use due to the time of year. The hard standing is a little small, so limited to positions for your unit. Good electric and water points, but would need long electric cable if more than two units on site. In summer the open water and open fields would be a delight.

One of our favourites!

we come here regularly, with our friends, quite often 3 or 4 vans together, the site is level, very well maintained and has beautiful surroundings, there is a  small  river running through where the men like a fish and is a lovely little walk too. The owner is always most welcoming and helpful, never intrusive.  Lovely big area to play rounders/cricket and has a lovely pub in easy walking distance that does very good food. Highly recommended, plus very reasonably priced.
