Beautiful, clean, picturesque site.

A very quiet and peaceful site with adequate space for all. Lots to see and do locally. Pleasant dog walk two minutes away along a bridlepath and lots of areas around to explore with dogs. Highly recommend this site and friendly owner. Site has easy access to tap and waste. Priced reasonably in view of current ridiculously high energy costs. Worth every penny.

Pleasant site but over-priced

This is a nice basic CL on a quiet road with easy access and friendly reception. However, I think it is over-priced at £25, considering it has just the one tap and a waste emptying area in the middle of the field with no fence round it. I would have no criticism of the site if I was paying £17 - £20.

A wonderful CL

This CL was great. We booked it by phone on the day we wanted to stay, and luckily John has space for us to stay the 6 nights we wanted. It is a well laid out site, nice and peaceful, with easy access, the road is next to it, but was not busy. John was really helpful when we got there, and showed us to our pitch, plus gave us local information. We had lovely views from the site, in the distance were the Cheviot Hills, though one day a storm came through and the view disappeared many times that day!!! We have a dog and there were plenty of nice places to take him on a walk. There is a bridleway very close by where you can go up to Shaftoe Crags and beyond, Bolam Lakes Country Park, plus on the quiet lanes nearby, watching and being watched by the sheep in the fields. There are alot of places to visit nearby, Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens (the Quarry gardens were excellent) (EH), Wallington House (NT), Cragside (NT), Rothbury, Bellingham and Otterburn Mill. Plus there are so many other places within driving distance, Kielder Water and Forest, Alnwick, plus the coast. We look forward to staying at the CL again.

Great Site

On arrival on site we were welcomed by John who showed us where everything was and place in the area to visit. Very dog friendly site with access to walks close by. Site immaculate.

A really nice place to stay

Recently made our second visit to this CL and recommend it. Warm welcome from the owners and all facilities are as they should be. The site is well maintained and there is plenty of space. Access is easy. It is situated in a lovely and quiet part of Northumberland with walks from the site. It is easy to visit attractions in the area and we particularly enjoyed the National Trust properties at Cragside and Wallington (very close by).

Another of the Norths best kept secrets . t

We stayed at this beautiful certified location 11 to 14 August to attend an event at Belsay Hall , Gardens and Castle and the site was perfect for our selves . The owners John and Kathleen were great hosts as were their family who were delightful , nothing was any trouble to them The site was peaceful and the views were stunning as was the Paddock/site and we hope to return soon to Bolam West Houses Farm to see more of the area .

More than the 5 caravans/motorhomes booked on to the site!

The friendly owner was quick to come out and welcome us on arrival and the site is well kept. The negative point was the 7 caravans/motorhomes squeezed on to the half an acre on one day/night and 6 for another day/night, we felt a bit like sardines! We won't return to this site for this reason.

Beautiful Northumberland Site

We stayed here for 4 nights during August. The site was easy to find, well maintained with plenty of room so that we didn’t feel cramped. The views of the countryside were lovely, with the Simonside Hills in the distance. John and Kathleen could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Although our visit was brief, we did manage to include a day at Cragside near Rothbury (well worth the time) there are many other places nearby that we would like to visit, which we shall do next time we’re here. Looking forward to coming back!

Great site, easy access, very quiet

Stayed here for 7 nights, easy access and fairly level, very welcoming host. Although alongside a road there is very little traffic and we weren't really aware of any road noise at all whilst staying there. Good access to a lot of places of interest, the east coast beaches are stunning and we would highly recommend Whitley Bay if you have a dog, most of the beach is dog friendly throughout the year compared to others, the beach is sandy and very long. It was raining for a few days at the site but we headed to the coast and enjoyed sunny days everyday. The coast is about 40 minutes drive. Plenty of good dog friendly pubs around we would recommend the Beresford Arms, about a 10 minute drive and the Widdrington Inn about 20 minutes drive, very dog friendly and welcoming. Having never stayed in Northumberland before we were very pleasantly surprised how clean and tidy the whole area is and how friendly the locals are. We will definitely be coming back to this part of the country.
