Great CL

Don't be put off by one bad review, we didn't have any problems with TV reception, found over a dozen perfect stations, and a bit of perseverance got our dab radio on too. Phone signal all the time we were there too, if you can't get a signal it's probably your provider rather than the site letting you down. Access is tight going in to the field, but we got our large 4 berth in and out without scraping anything. Ideally placed to tour the western lakes, with some lovely scenery on the doorstep. Gosforth has all your shopping needs, good shop and bakery etc. Cumbria isn't well known for it's beaches, so a trip to St Bees was a very pleasant surprise, large shallow beach with some great rocks to scramble over, and a nice walk up to the headland gives you views of Scotland and the IOM in the distance. Try the Wrynose/Hardknot pass over to Coniston, a great road for the more adventurous drivers, 1 in 3 at times! And don't forget, it's a farming community, so you will hear machinery and the occasional shotgun going off, but only during the day, at night all you hear is the odd car going passed on the small road between Gosforth and Santon Bridge. The electric tripped at one point, but the helpful owners were contacted and returned to fix the problem in a few minutes. All in all, a perfect CL for the N/W lakes.
