Unusual spot!

Yes, it’s actually on a little airfield! The site itself is just a big, level field and you can park anywhere if your EHU cable is long enough. Access is surprising - once you turn into the entrance you pass some boats on your right and should turn left across the front of the ClubHouse / airfield buildings then continue off the concrete onto the grass….once clear of the buildings you will find a brick construction with all the EHUs and a white door leads to the toilet & shower. Just the one - but lovely & clean with plenty of cleaning materials and a rarity - a shower squeegee-blade! The road is a bit noisy but not too intrusive.

2 night stop

Unusual place to stay but we thoroughly enjoyed it . The site is easily accessed and fat .There is quite a bit of road noise but not to the point were it is annoying. There is a toilet and electric shower avalable which is adequate for use.It was interesting watching the light planes take off and land and i believe you can take pleasure flights.Part of the site is were they manufacture narrow boats, quite interesting to see.We were made very welcome and would stay again.

Lovely novel site

We were grateful to find space at the Aerodrome site for 3 nights having been let down by our booked site nearby. It’s a very friendly club and we were made to feel very welcome, and we were delighted by the novel location right next to the runway, with plane activities providing entertainment. There is loads of space for caravans and the grass is level and well tended. You can pitch anywhere, limited only by the length of your electric hook up cable. The toilet and shower are a bonus addition for a CL and whilst being pretty basic they are clean and well functioning. The road and branch railway line are close by but we weren’t bothered by them too much. Shops and facilities nearby.

Nice site poor facilities

stopped on this site fot 1 night plenty going on aeroplanes taking off and landing then the farmer got in a crop with a combined harvester was great to watch they worked hard into the night. The road is very close and fast so noisy also trains. The toilet and shower need a good revamp no COVID 19 precautions the worst thing for me was I could not lock the door. Pleasent owner and well kept field. I took some photos will try to load. Nope can't load

2 night stop over...

We stayed here as a stop over on our trip further north, hence only a 3 for access to local places. Chris very kindly told us to park our motorhome in a sheltered spot due to the very high winds as opposed to the usual open field. The toilet and shower are adequate and clean. Chris made us feel very welcome as did the couple in the café. It is a working air field but because of the winds, we only saw one plane take off. We will return in warmer weather to enjoy the big skies and watch the planes :)

A CL with a difference

A most enjoyable weekend at the end of June 2018, perfect weather  all weekend at this friendly site. This CL is located of the main grass strip runway just off the main road into Boston, ideal for watching light aircraft landing and taking off. Road and aircraft noise didn’t seem to intrusive, on what was a peaceful stay. The CL site is clean and spacious, one central location for ehu so your pitch is limited to the length of your hook-up cable there are no marked pitches. Added convenience of a shower and toilet which were kept clean and tidy. Recycling bins are located at the back of the cafe/ briefing room which is about 80 meters from CL site ,and an opportunity to chat to some of the pilots. Easy access through large Metal gate for added security. In the evening rabbits graze on the edge of the site and we saw hares running down the runway. This area is big sky country , we had wonderful colourful sunsets here too. Definitely will return to this unique CL site on the club circuit . Thanks Chris for a wonderful stay.

Motorhome stopover

This is a convenient location for visiting Boston and the surrounding area. The site is easy to find and there is a notice on the cafe on the right telling campers where to pitch. The owner was friendly and helpful. The toilet and shower is through a white pvc door and was very clean. The chemical disposal point could do with a proper lid. There was not too much noise from the road as there was a line of trees. The helipad lights were lit at night which was cute. We were disappointed not to see some microlytes take off in the morning but it was too windy. We would have had an excellent view! Definitely camp there again.

The most unusual site we've ever found

If you're looking for a CL which isn't simply a farmer's field, this place is just brilliant! Initial contact with Chris was very easy and he was really welcoming, explaining that it's a working airfield so not ideal for anyone who wants to lie in past 10AM. Location is easy to find with gated access for night security. Although the airfield dates from pre-WWII, there's a modern flight simulator and a hangar with a handful of light planes and microlights, together with a cafe, toilets and even a brand new power shower cubicle. Very relaxed atmosphere throughout. The pitch arrangement is freestyle - choose your own spot within cable range of the hook-ups. We arrived in a motorhome after torrential rain and opted for hardstanding, but caravan owners would simply have to walk the field before pitching. Location is ideal for anyone visiting the Princess Royal Sports Arena - just walk across a rugby pitch and you're there. A great weekend - thanks, guys.
