Bookcroft

This is my favourite site so far !! A lovely location, surrounded by countryside, but a short walk to the village. A great local pub with decent food and really great locals too. Although they did wind me up that the graveyard was haunted (this happened to be my shortcut back after a few pints ). The showers and toilets were very clean. The owners were welcoming and helpful a great site in fact we were due to go back but had to cancel because of car problems. But we will return !!

Great Site

Visited Brookcroft over the bank holiday weekend.  Roger the owner greeted us and showed us to our pitch and explained everything.   The site is well maintained and the shower/toilet block is immaculate and clean.  A new shower mat is there each day if you use the shower and at 50p (in the honesty box) is good value if you want to use it.  The loo is spotless and even the supplied toilet paper is quilted. Recycle facilities on site are good and for some reason the owners had to empty the bottle bank every day!!! We are local to the site so its a great place to get away to and easy to find with good roads to the entrance.  Lots of wildlife about and we even heard a cuckoo. All in all a site we would recommend.

A great little site!

We are new motorhome owners and wanted to choose a local site for our first trip away. This site was perfect for us. Easy to find, hard standing for the motorhome and the facilities were all that we needed. Roger the site owner was very helpful and friendly. For our first night away, this site was exactly what we needed. I would highly recommend it!

Peaceful, spacious site

We stayed only one night as a stopover for the Harwich ferry. We were greeted and given all the information we needed. The site is peaceful and spacious. The new toilet and shower are very clean, although we didn't use the shower because it is £1 for 10 minutes. For our family of five this would prove very expensive, particularly for a longer stay.

what a CL is all about

Loved this site, we arrived on 12th August and spent a week there. we met by the owners who couldn't do enough for you. parked up near the dog walk and had plenty of room to spread out, the site is sloping but bricks are there for you to use. the chem wate, water and bins are kept spotless. The toilet and shwer I know are fairly new but again they are spotless and plenty of room, shower operates on a 31 card for 10 minutes which is plenty of time. The dog walk is a plesant little walk around the primiter, which is ok for a westie who has her big walk to the paper shop ( 1 mile ) in Gt Oakley. this site is ideal for any one trvelling from Harwich, as a lot were, but also good for local area's The Naze is a must as is Harwich although the ligh house towers were closed . Frinton on sea is gorgeous. Clacton looks good if you can park. Definatley recomend

Conveniently Located Site

Brookcroft in Great Oakley gives easy access to Harwich - for the ferry or just for a visit, Dovercourt - nice seaside town, Mistley - to see the swans, Walton and Frinton, etc. The site itself is on a pleasant, sheltered, lawned area; though you will need levelling blocks. Slabs are provided to protect the lawn from your BBQ/Fire Pit. Shower and washing facilities are very good, but the shower cost a pound for an electric credit card (the machine for this was a bit temperamental). All in all a lovely site; would recommend.

Fantastic site

We booked this site as we were coming off the Stena ferry at Harwich and wanted to stay a few nights in the area since we did not know it at all. Mr Taylor greeted us at the gate and helped us pitch up although it was after 9 in the evening, even lending us one of his heavy duty levellers since ours wouldn't lift us quite high enough on the one side required. He also found us some WD40 which we needed to use and which we couldn't lay hands on immediately in our own car. The pitching area is beautifully lawned and maintained and the toilet and shower really clean altho' we always use our own shower. We would definitely use this site again if in the area and would thoroughly recommend it and not just for a convenient overnight stop when using the Harwich ferries.

Great for night before / after Ferry...or longer

Thanks to Mr & Mrs Taylor for an excellent CL. We have stayed for 2 one night stops before and after a trip to the Netherlands at Easter 2013. The directions to the site from Roger in the e-mail confirmation were easy to follow and he was very helpful when we arrived, later than planned, in the dark. There are a mix of hard-standing and grass pitches, all with electric hook-ups. There is also a shower and toilet, not heated (but for the cost I wouldn't expect this) - both were spotlessly clean. The site is excellent for an overnight as we did, before and after the ferry or you could stay for longer and explore the (to me) surprisingly pretty countryside. The minor road to the CL is a Cycle Route. Overall a really pleasant site and one we shall use again and again.
