A peaceful getaway.

We had a short break here for a weekend getaway. Very nice site, well maintained and as others have said, plenty of space between pitches. Only animal sounds to be heard at night. We saw some Red Kites . It was very relaxing to watch them. The site had everything needed as mentioned by others. There were lovely views all around. The cost for one night was excellent value at £10. The owners were friendly and helpful. There are lots of places to walk with or without a dog straight from the site. You can walk to Dassett Hills but be aware that you have to use a footbridge to cross the motorway so perhaps best avoided if you have a nervous dog. The site of the Battle of Edgehill is close with some nice walks.‘The Castle’ A folly which is now a pub is in the area. We did not walk to this area from the site so not sure how far ‘The Castle’ is. We didn’t come across any pubs a short walk away. We stopped for a drink on route to Dassett Hills, at ‘The Red Lion’ in Northend. Probably about 2 miles and a 40 minute walk. They serve food but we didn’t eat as it was early. We also later passed ‘The Avon’ in Avon Dassett but didn’t stop. Not sure about local shops as we didn't need anything.
