No chocks needed

What a lovely site and a very warm welcome by Mrs Watts. The site is grassy and, I would say, level. We didn’t need to use chocks when levelling although it does state in the book they are required. The site is really close to the Red Squirrel Cycle Trail and as the island is so small, within easy reach of all the attractions. Merstone is pretty well centre of the island and the site is just off the main route through to Sandown. The site is well kept and clean, especially the rubbish and chemical disposal area. The pitch sizes are generous with plenty of room for the awning and car. The 2 nice days we had in the week we were there we covered the whole of the Red Squirrel Trail. A shame the weather was so bad but out of everyone’s control!! Would definitely use this site if going to the Isle of Wight again.

A Fantastic Site !

Set in beautiful peaceful countryside with marvellous views and yet only 20 minutes drive to the coast. The village of Godshill is a very pleasant two mile walk away. The site is immaculately maintained with short grass and a clean and discreet elsan point. The caravan field is on a gentle slope surrounded by mature hedging making it very private. There is plenty of room and space between each caravan. The owners Barbara and Arnold are extremely nice people and very welcoming. This is certainly the best CL site that we have stayed on. If you like peace and quiet with the added bonus of no children and dogs then this is a perfect site for you

Best on the island

We stayed here for two weeks in July this year; and boy what a lovely site this is, we arrived at exactly midday, but the grass had not been cut after the previous caravan had left,as Arnold had gone out for fuel for the mower,so we parked in the middle of the site then we were offered a cup of tea by another caravaner, so we sat there while Arnold got our pitch ready for us.We then settled in for a good holiday. We enjoyed this site so much ,that before we left we booked a three week stay for next year, looking forward to it.

Great CL

I can only repeat what others have said; this is a wonderful site. Immaculately maintained with a relaxing atmosphere. The only noise is the odd tractor or horse rider passing and good views across the countryside. Central for visiting the rest of the Isle of Wight and we were made welcome by Arnold and Barbara Watts. If you're looking for somewhere to stay on the Island, look no further.

Beautifully organised

What a beautifully maintained, lovely site, location and owners. Very impressed with how organised Barbara was when we pulled up (one of the few owners in years who asked to see our Membership Card) and delighted at the well kept grass (mowed AND collected). Fantastic views. The 5-van rule was strictly adhered to (another rarity). Arnold is delightful and you can always find him whizzing around somewhere on the farm if you need to ask him about anything. Very pleasant four night stay (2nd week September 2015).

what a gem of a find

This beautiful grassy field is very well kept offering extensive view over the surrounding countryside. The entrance is clear and wide and well signposted - driving directions and a useful map ensured that we didn't get lost. It is half an hour from the Southampton/East Cowes ferry. Barbara and Arnold are a mine of information, providing tourist leaflets and their own local knowledge. They are very friendly and helpful, available to talk to, but they wouldn't dream of imposing. The waste disposal and elsan point are well planned, well maintained and immaculate. Being close to Newport, the farm is conveniently placed to explore the whole island and the local bus is only a 10 minute stroll away. Buses leave every half hour to go to Newport, or in the opposite direction to Godshill, Shanklin and Ryde. If you want peace and quiet, in an unspoiled area, with dark starry skies this is the place for you. It is perfect for a long or short stay.

Pitch Perfect!

What a marvellous little gem of a site this is. Free from dogs and children - just peace and quiet and the loveliness of the Isle of Wight countryside. Upon arrival, Barbara and Arnold welcomed us to the CL and guided us into the field. With a slight slope, levelling blocks may be required, although the slope is not steep. The field was well kept, neat and tidy with the grass cut regularly. The views from any of the five pitches is magnificent. With only 10 - 15 minutes drive to most coastal places on the island, the site is very well placed. Walks and cycling from the site along the disused railway lines and bridle paths are perfect. We stayed for 8 nights in our caravan, but wished we'd had more time to stay longer. Arnold popped in from time to time to see if we were settled, it was great to hear some of his stories - a bonus! Will we return? You bet we will!

Lovely site, lovely hosts, lovely island

When we arrived at Bury Lane Farm, we planned to stay 4 nights, but we so enjoyed the site, Mr. and Mrs. Watts, and the Isle of Wight in general, we extended our stay to 9 nights.  Arnold and Barbara are lovely and gracious hosts, helping us plan bicycling routes throughout the island that would avoid busy roads.  The "rails to trails" bike path runs quite close to the site.  The scenic vistas from the site are stunning, verdant rolling hills with patchwork green and brown fields.  We absolutely recommend Bury Lane Farm and hope to return.

Super Site

Feel a bit guilty about the delay in reviewing this lovely site, having stayed for 4 nights in June. The site is up a quiet lane and is quite level. The welcome from Mr and Mrs Watts could not have been more 'welcoming'. We were lucky with the weather, which always helps. We had no problem with our motorhome approaching or getting onto the site and cannot see that there would be any difficulty for any set up. We used our stay as a base to visit other places on the island and also because the site is close to the old railway, now converted to a brilliant cycle track we also had a day on our bikes cycling into Sandown, in fact if we had had another day we would have gone the other way too up to Newport and Cowes. If you want a quiet, clean and well kept, well placed site on the island then look no further, we will definitely be returning. Thank you Mr and Mrs Watts, we loved it..
