What a beautiful site. Jess welcomed us and explained the layout and where the bins and loo disposal was.(loo disposal is easy and recycling facilities too.) The very best bit...... Silence, beautiful peaceful silence! We saw bats at dusk. Heard owls. Saw hares boxing. Listened to the woodpeckers in the forest. Night time was spectacular. The sky was lit up like like glitter had been sprinkled in abundance, even the Milky Way can be seen! Helmsley is a pretty market town,loads of cafes, bakeries, local shops and a few pubs. Friday is market day. We had a couple in the Royal Oak Pub which was warm and friendly and dogs allowed. There is a castle here too.(National Heritage) Riverlux is pretty we didn't visit the Abby, but did a massive walk looking down at the Abby.
