beware the sheep and lambs

this is what a cl is definitely all about. its high above the roads, the views are stunning at sunset and dawn. the facilities are just as a cl should be, water and waste with electric hook ups. the only down side for us was the sheep with lambs. we didnt realise that we would be less than 100 ft from them with nothing more than a wired fence (electric i think) between them and our 5 dogs. it was a little bit of a mare to have to take the dogs in the car every morning for a run instead of being able to walk on the footpaths but it wasnt too bad in the end. i would recommend this site to anyone without dogs or with dogs but make sure you have sufficient screening. we did and it helped as the dogs couldn't see the animals. i don't know what my dogs would do if they got in the field but i certainly wasn't going to give them the chance to find out. all in all it is an excellent place to visit and stay, next time and we will go back, it will just be later in the year without sheep and lambs 100 ft away from us.

The perfect CL?

This is what a CL is all about.   It has no facilities other than an electric point, peace and quiet and amazing views.  The site is at the top of a hill over looking the valley.  The views are outstanding.    The pitches are on grass but its well drained and level.   We had some torrential rain, but had no issues driving off with our 4ton motorhome. Betwys coed is 8 miles down the road and other tourist locations are easily reached, conwy is about an hour away, bala and corwen are also not too far away.  A great location for exploring this part of the world.  Although you do need your own transport. The site is clearly signposted from the A5 and when you first turn in you see a farm track leading up a steepish hill and think Oh eck.  But in reality its not that steep, there is loads of grip and if you take it steady there are no issues.   At the top there is the owners house and a road to the CL. The owners are really helpful.  There is also an onsite B&B if you have friends who want to stay but don't have their own van.

lovely site

I had doubts about access after another review but it is no problem. it is a unmade lane but if you drive slow then you wont have a problem. plenty of room and nice views. owners very helpful and I stayed here when we were being hammered by 100+ winds and the very helpful owners let me shelter in the yard behind the barn. the whole family were very helpful and would recommend this site to anyone wanting peace and quiet with scenery.

The views are stunning

This site had the best views we've encountered so far on a CL. Eating breakfast looking out over the hills towards the mountains was magical. On one morning mist in the valley below added to the beauty. The site is on a level plateau on the side of the hill so you get the double benefit of great views and easy pitching. Grass is beautifully mown and clippings collected. Don't worry about the entrance drive...no problem at all as long as taken slowly and all our crockery survived!! Access is straightforward as the A5 is just yards away and, presumably because of the elevated position, road noise simply isn't an issue. Don't worry about the adjacent static site either, you barely see them and hardly know they are there. Disposal point is a bit of a hike but you can drive right up to it if you don't fancy the walk. The owners do have plans to move it closer. Walks on the farm are fantastic and a walk up to the lake at sunset is a must! The owners are very friendly and helpful. It is no surprise that this is a very popular site and all six of the generously spaced pitches were occupied several times during our stay. We will be back!

access

Spotted this site from the road en-rout to Betws e coed and decided to call in on the return trip. Site is a gem as others have testified, but sadly i would not take my newish van up that farm track, i would have no crockery left at the top. In all other respects the site is perfect for us, quiet, far enough from the road, and great views.

It doesn't get much better

Fine views of Snowdonia, lawned with no grass cuttings, a warm welcome and some excellent walking without getting into the car. Dewi even has a survey to get ideas on how he can improve his site. We told him he has it spot on already.

A beautiful CL - highly recommended

This is a lovely CL with fine views all around including towards Snowdonia. It is well maintained and there is a warm welcome. The site is adjacent to a working farm. NB the drive up is reasonably steep in one place - should be no difficulty as long as not winter conditions.

A perfect CL?

An absolute gem - on a hillside with (distant) views of Snowdonia. Plenty of room.
