A delightful CL

We spent several days the this CL, and really could not fault it. The pitches are set along one side of a south-facing field, with views beyond. There is certainly plenty of room to stretch out, and it is ideal for dog-owners in particular. The large pitch area was nicely mown, and the remainder of the field had been cut for hay-making a few days before our arrival. Charlton St Peter is a tiny hamlet of around 70 people. The pub, the Charlton Cat up on the main road, is open Friday to Sunday evenings and can be reached on foot from the site. Don't be put off by its slightly shabby exterior - it's a really nice, traditional pub inside. Probably the best thing about this site is its peace and tranquility. Although it is on Salisbury Plain and therefore subject to some military over-flying, we did not find this at all intrusive. It is very convenient for Avebury Stone Circle, Marlborough, Devizes and so on. Nice owners who are working hard to make this 2-year old site successful. Thoroughly recommended!
