I booked this CL for the early May bank holiday weekend for 3 nights as also visiting in Essex on the Monday. One other van on site! It was a bit difficult to find in the dark (we couldn't see the spire) but once we had the right sandy track it was great. Site where you want, quite easy to get level, beautiful church and bluebells and we could ride our mountain and road bikes from the site. We had agreed the warden came round Saturday morning, as we knew we'd be late. He explained where everything was but there were instructions in the church too. Great for road and gentle mountain biking in the forest (walking and for dogs too). We looped round to Woodford then Aldeburgh (get some smoked fish delicacies from Ash Smoked Fishes for a picnic lunch. We visited Orford Castle near closing time (as English Heritage members) and had it to ourselves. On Sunday we explored on our mountian bikes and just made it back in time for our lunch reservation at The Froize at the other end of the village. I'd looked for somewhere for Saturday night and was puzzled that this place is only open Friday/Saturday/Sunday lunchtimes. Reserve well ahead of time and go. Superb! The reviews are right. I would not normally book a carvery/canteen style served meal. i'm glad I did. Superb value at £10 a night in May 2023, we have invested in solar for our campervan so don't need/want to pay for ehu. Only 1 service a month in the church. nice to contribute to it's upkeep.
