Just returned from a week at Cholsey Grange with weather that has varied from torrential rain to blistering hot sunshine! The view from all of the pitches is amazing, looking over a valley in the southern end of the Chilterns. the first thing you will notice is the whistling of the Red Kites who miraculously appear whenever humans appear and especially if food is around, but then disappear as soon as they see a camera. You are likely to hear deer and if a very early riser, possibly see them and there's an owl nested close by who enjoys the occasional hoot. and being primarily a riding centre, lots of horses. The location is very good.between Oxford and High Wycombe and with easy access to numerous NT properties within 30 minutes drive and there is much to see in Oxford with a good park and ride, again less than 30 minutes drive. Access is simple, just off the only road south at the M40 Stokenchurch junction and then along a very narrow and quite rough private lane. There are cars parked along the lane, so you need to take care and go very slow, but there is a good "traffic management" scheme implemented by the owner to avoid meeting horseboxes!!! We had pitch 5, which is at the far end. It is under a large oak tree, so we found a thick coating of tree sap on our awning and the roof and rear of our caravan, but it provides good shade when sunny. Some of the pitches slope and it looks as though the slope increases to the extent that pitch 5 slopes in both directions, so you may need to ensure you have supports or ramps for levelling, It is also around 200 metres to empty the loo, with a curious request not to empty your loo during office hours - the emptying point is a lift up grille that is outside the farm office. I took the car to empty the loo as I have quite severe mobility issues and can't use the provided cart and walk with my stick at the same time. TV reception is amazing with a choice of several transmitters (the joy of being on top of a hill) and it is without doubt the best WiFi (free!) I have ever experienced on any caravan site.
