Great For York

Lovely well kept site, easy access good quality hardcore road and pitches. Just beware of the first bit of road as you turn off the main road this is shared ownership so take it easy and you will be fine. Owners gave a great welcome, sorted fees out straight away (which i like) before pitching. There is a cycle/footpath right outside the gate that runs all the way into York town centre next to the main road WHICH IS AWESOME and giving easy access to York either on foot or cycle go the other way and there is a hugh out of town estate with the likes of Sainsburys Aldi ect. Great for exploring York. Only downside for me was no heating in the shower/toilet area so it will be cold in winter !!

Perfectly located

A lovely little site that we found quite easily. The start of the access track is a little potholey but the site tracks and hardstandings were good. The site is well placed to visit anywhere in York or further afield and is right next to the park and ride. BUT this comes (as with many CLs in York) at a fair price tag per night. This can then get considerable due to all the chargable extras, children/dogs and then you even had to pay to shower - thankfully we used our own! There are no dog walks nearby unless you walk along the footpath against the main road. The owners are quite friendly but almost demanded out weeks site fees like a pair of vultures as soon as we had crossed the site threshold - not something we are used to i must say!!! Yes we would stop here again for the ease of access BUT we may look around before doing so.

Great CL for visiting York

Very easy to find & owners out to greet us & site van immediately. Next to P&R for easy access to York, although it is only 30 mins walk to the city. Shops close by (retail park) if you want anything. Site has a single shower (pay) and electric hook up. Hard standings, so recommend strong pegs for awning. A good site for a visit to York & surrounding area.

Friendly site

Made to feel very welcome by the owners and very convenient to the city of York. Either by monks bar park and ride £2.80 per person ( dedicated Motorhome parking) or walk to city about 30 mins . Toilet and shower area clean ,charge for shower £1.20 . We would use the site again ,when visiting York.

Great CL for visiting York

Stayed on Chowdene mid December 2015, great welcome on arrival, site was very easy to find located very close to the Vanguard Retail Park (John Lewis, etc) and the park and ride. The weather was awful when we arrived, but the owner came out to greet us, and gave us some good information about the CL, and also York. The ground was waterlogged, but the hard standing pitches were fine, I am sure in the summer the CL is totally different, it is generally very well looked after. The toilet and shower were both excellent, clean and warm and only a short walk from the pitches. In summary this is a great CL within a stones throw from York and all its attractions - friendly owners - we will visit again - but this time when the weather is better!!

great welcome and plenty to do in the area

stopped for 8 nights.   We go stuck on the grass when we arrived which Mr Wardell had told me not to use anyway.   Mr Wardell towed me off with a smile.   No problems if I kept to the gravel track and hardstanding areas.     10 minute walk from site to Monkscross Park and Ride.  Plenty to do in York and surrounding area.
