Hidden Gem

Just spent a 3 night stay at Clump Hill even though it is grass only and it was in no uncertain terms raining! We managed to get set up just as the heavens opened. 1st night spent in the 'van. Woke up to the Sun and what a difference! Took a drive to Swanage but did not follow the original sat nav due to road conditions. Nice to see the beach and sand! more than what we saw in July! Toilet block very clean and quite modern-shower and hand dryer!. I would think fishermen would love the lake. In the warmer weather would recon it will very popular. Donna met us on arrival with gate fob and Shower block key. Don't be put off by the entrance as you go through a Truck Business but seeing as the gate can only be open automatically during the day from the campsite at night the fob is used makes you feel safe and secure. Will definitely return.

Over crowded

We stayed here last year and were grateful that a place was found for us as quite a few that we had tried were fully booked. All the previous reviews are correct and I would certainly not ,not return but we choose C.L.s as we like a bit of freedom, free from the hustle and bustle of some large campsites. This site had eight vans crammed into it, which rather spoilt the effect, we were able to park the other side of the lane, but would not have been too happy had I not been carrying an extra spare lead. Don’t let this comment put you off as it is a lovely secure site, brilliant for the area and has lovely easy walks right from the gateway.

A Hidden Gem

We just happened upon this site by accident when searching for somewhere to stay - but what a happy accident! Even my initial call to Donna was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Upon arrival, you have to drive through a delightful, tidy and busy working yard, where people are going about their business (such a welcome sight after us all being locked down in a pandemic). But keep going, and you will enter a different world! A beautiful, scenic site beside a gorgeous, little fishing lake. The site is incredibly clean, tidy and peaceful. The toilets and shower cubicles look brand new, and are so clean - probably the best CL facilities we have seen. Also EHU available, and great security, with a remotely operated gate, for which you are given a key fob. Donna and her family are unobtrusive, but so helpful and friendly. This was one of our first trips out since lockdown, so I was very nervous about our surroundings, but the space, tranquility and understanding from our hosts made this trip a total success. Thankyou Donna and family xxxx

Second time and looking forward to the next!

We Was greeted by Donna on arrival and given a warm welcome. We had a fantastic week, although the weather was mixed we made the most of everyday. Since our last visit last summer they have completed the shower and toilet block and it made our week even more comfortable. My husband had a few hours fishing and thoroughly enjoyed himself, while I enjoyed the peace and tranquility of this site.

Stunning views/ Peaceful location & good facilities

Donna & Phil are great hosts, lovely location and good facilities. On arrival you’ll receive a gate fob, plus directions to the camp site, forget everything you see until your eyes catch the view of the fishing lake. Once passed the gates into the Campsite, you’ll find a choice of 5 spots all of which look onto the fishing lake and other fantastic views. Great for dogs and general walks. Good facilities now that the toilet and shower blocks have been completed ( very high standard) Local villages include WestMoors and Verwood, both have great little cafes, laundrette and shops. Would highly recommend for a chilled out break. Elton & Louise

Peace and Quiet

Just spent a very relaxing11 days here. Donna and the Bascombe family are very friendly. Directions to the site were easy to find and follow. The entrance is very secure through an electric gate and through their transport business yard but I never heard a sound coming from there and if you enjoy fishing there is an adjacent lake which you pass on your way into the CL. The path around the lake is a nice stroll with the dog. Absolutely perfect for peace and quiet. There is a Morrison's supermarket about 3 miles away in Verwood with other local shops. Many thanks to to Donna and the Bascombe family.

Lovely time had....

Arrived at Clump hill farm, directions were good. As others have said as you arrive you might be disappointed by the entrance but once you pass through the yards, you approach and drive around the lake to a peaceful field for CL caravans. The owner Donna was away but her dad came down and welcomed us and was really lovely to talk to. He would pop by a couple of times a day to see if everything was okay or you had any questions. He was also more than happy to loan my husband some equipment he forgot. If you want peace quite and no fuss this is a pleasant site and we look forward to returning.

beautiful laid back site

We booked this quite last minute and were amazed to find availability for the Easter weekend. The owners were away themselves on holiday until the Good Friday but their son was there on the Thursday to see us into the site. Such a lovely site. Just so relaxing. Everything we want: EHU, water, toilet, lots of greenery and wide open spaces. And to boot the owners are both really friendly and helpful. We did unfortunately have an issue with a family who were staying at the fishing lake over the same period with just a hedge separating us so noise was an issue - kids screaming and shouting and loud music - but I phoned Donna & Phil and they were quick to sort it out for us. That aside, the area is very peaceful and relaxing so it was just really unfortunate that our stay in the CL co-incided with this family using the fishing lake and the fact that they chose to pitch their tent over that particular side of the lake right next to 4 sets of couples in the CL wanting peace and quiet and to get away from kids for the weekend! I don't think this is the norm..... There was also not a bin when we first arrived but this was soon rectified and was probably just down to Donna & Phil being on holiday and when they came back, the bin arrived too! We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others. We understand the entrance / exit is going to change going forward too so it will be even nicer in the future!
