Fantastic!!

Arrived mid-afternoon Wednesday 5th Feb 2020 to be met by the Farm/Site owner, Peter Curtis. Despite the Farm being his main source of income, he immediately stopped what he was doing to welcome us and ensure that we had everything we needed and were happy with the pitch. Later the same day we met his wife Alison together with one of their daughters. They are a lovely family who make you welcome and do all they can to ensure you have a good time. Access is by way of a sharp left turn into the Farm yard off a Country Lane. The site itself is a self-contained paddock adjacent to the main farm and has 5 Hard-standing (level) Pitches which are well spaced and serviced with both Water and Electric Hook up's. There's also a small Children's play area with a couple of swings, slide and climbing frame. As this is working Farm you can't wander around too much but the main barn adjacent to the site housed a number of young calves (one only three days old) and lamb's and we were able to see them up close (escorted by the family's two working Sheepdog's who are also excellent as night-time Site Security). A single shower room and separate WC are available if required. The Elsam point is readily accessible and there is a good opportunity to do your bit for the environment by separating cardboard and plastic's into the separate boxes situated by the waste bins. When leaving the site, purely and simply for safety it's worth asking your passenger to act as 'spotter' because the wall of the barn makes visibility to the right almost non-existent (this is not a complaint, simply a safety point worth making). The Roman city of Chester is 15mins drive away; the National Trust 'Erdigg' site is also only 20mins away and well worth a day from anyone's life (House opens next month but extensive gardens and parkland grounds are open now). Liverpool City Centre is only 40mins away and readily accessible via the A55/M53/Mersey Tunnel (toll of £1.80 each way). Mold Town Centre is 15mins away and has a good market on Wednesday's and Saturday's. Local shopping is available at nearby Broughton (Tesco/Aldi/McD's etc) and for any Aircraft enthusiast's the 'Chock's Away' Diner is located on the Aviation Park adjacent to the AIrbus A380 Factory West Gate. The food and service is good (£4.95 for Small Breakfast including Tea and Toast) and it's a great opportunity to watch the daily arrival/departure of the Airbus Beluga transport plane together with various private jets and small planes. It's been a great weekend despite Storm Ciara's best efforts and to top everything off, Peter and Alison have happily allowed us to leave our unit on site until the winds die down enough to bring her home back to the Wirral. Lovely people with a fabulous location. Can highly recommend a visit and in fact, we'll be back for an extra-long weekend in 10 days time with the Grandchildren.

Charm in Cheshire.

Don’t make the same mistake as we did! There is a site on the left immediately after leaving the dual Carriageway. It’s not Crab Mill Farm. Crab Mill Farm is a delightful working farm. The owners are helpful and non intrusive. The site is well cared for with hardstandings, with their own water supply. Grey water is discretely disposed of. It’s as good as fully serviced for a fraction of the price. The location is perfect for exploring Chester, North Wales, the Wirral and into Shropshire. We absolutely loved it and will definitely return.

relaxing CL

This is a lovely CL with hardstanding pitches & grass. Due to the weather at the time of our stay Mrs Curtis said we could pitch on the grass & put an awning up on the hard standing if we wanted to or vice-versa, whatever we wanted to do really. There is electric & water at each pitch & re-cycling onsite. The toilet & shower are both separate & well maintained. The entrance to the CL is through the farm yard which was fine for our twin axle van. On leaving the farmyard onto the road, we found that as long as you go slow it was no problem. The working dogs are lovely, don't come onto the site, & were not a problem at all. The owners were equally helpful & pleasant.

A 5th Wheel adventure!

Crab Mill Farm is an excellent CL with lovely hard standing pitches, well kept and just off the A55 for access to Chester and North Wales coast. We stayed in late January with our 5th wheel. Access is along about 1/2 mile of narrow, well used road and a tight turn into the working farm yard. Again care needed to leave site (as mentioned by another member) because of blind exit and fast traffic but a spotter helps! Site is well laid out through a separate gate with picnic tables and benches and when we were there was covered in snow but easily moved around. All pitches have water and EHU with good recycle facilities and a waste point. There is a separate toilet and shower at site which was clean, functional and the owners had even plugged in a heater in the toilet as it was minus temperatures overnight! One of the best bits about Crab Mill is the animals with calves and lambs in the barn to see, pet and bring added interest. That coupled with the most affectionate sheep dog you could hope to meet (just wanted to be fussed and patted and sit by you) made this a very special overnight stay. We will certainly return as our van gets serviced nearby and it is a really lovely, reasonably priced stay.

A Lovely short stay, just what we needed

It was a last minute escape for the weekend and it was exactly what we needed. Fixable arrival time and leaving mean we were able to enjoy our Sunday without the typical rush to leave the site. We have a nervous dog, so the quiet country site was perfect and my daughter who is three loved the animals nearby - especially the Donkey behind us. Close walk (Although we drive for ease) to a local pub - great food and drink. The Pitch was spacious offering water and electric along with hard standing for the van.

Excellent serviced pitches

Very good and spacious site with water tap and EHU for all pitches and plenty of hardstandings. Good toilet and separate shower. Picnic tables beside some pitches. The entrance gate and access through the farmyard was fine for our large twin axle van, and the CL field has a wide gate too. Leaving is slightly more tricky as you do not have a clear view of the road in both directions. Very pleasant and helpful owners. Price at the time of our visit (June 2018) was £15.

Just Wonderful.....

Well i do not know what to say,I know i'm only one year into this caravan lark but I MUST say just how helpful the Mr and Mrs Curtis were to me this weekend,We set off from home after work,I called the site to explain that it was going to be late when we arrive and was told categorically not to worry and certainly not to rush to get to the site and to just set ourselves up,Mr Curtis was there to welcome us and offered us a hardstanding pitch of our choice and explained the location of toilet and shower,The toilet block was immaculate and although we never used the shower it was readily available. Now if you want me to moan......The noise of complete silence was deafening and the smell of fresh air was, well just wonderful,Its a working farm with real farm animals and to hear young calves and owls hooting is a joy!this was a great weekend on a lovely site,Mr And Mrs Curtis were lovely and we have already re-booked for my birthday in spring! Cant wait.. See you then, Glen and the gang
