We booked this site as one of 6 CL sites on a 4 week trip to Cornwall and back and we were impressed. Very easy access from the A30, a little bit narrow the last 20 yards but no problem as it's a quiet lane. The pitches are grass with lovely views of the Devon countryside, no water on each one but we could let the waste into the hedge. We were on the only pitch that was sloping which was no problem as we carry an inflatable leveller. The elsan disposable is new and very good, recycling bins also, and the fresh water tap was next to our pitch. Darren was around on our arrival and told us where to pitch, he also gave us great information on walks etc in the area. We did a beautiful walk to Sticklepath, Bellstone, up on to the moor, back to Bellstone for a real ale and cider at the Shed, a delicious burger and stroll back to the site, a very enjoyable 7 miles. There's such a lot to do in this beautiful area, we really need to go back and will definitely chose Crosslands.
Lovely site, will be back
Crosslands is a lovely site, access from A30, plenty of room, not sure what the previous comment was about regarding size, it is larger than an acre, a plenty of space between units.
Pitch marked with name on arrival, but did not need this as was met by pleasant and helpful owner, short walk to a bridleway to the moors for dog walking, just a short distance from Okehampton which is a pleasant town with Waitrose, Lidl and large Coop
Ideal stop if you are travelling further down to cornwall
Definitely recommend and will be returning in the future all being well
Perfect stay
This was the perfect last stop on our trip. Beautiful scenery, peaceful with plenty of space and all necessary facilities. One of our favourite sites. Thank you for your hospitality.

Not an acre, more like a 1/4ac as fence cuts the site right down
Simply this isn't an acre as shown in the book (418). The field has been cut in two with a fence as you can see on the photo, the larger part is unavailable for caravans, it's too small to sensibly pitch we left immediately - having had great trouble turning round in the space. We spoke to the other 2 units there who were similarly unimpressed but had decided to stay.
Others seem to like it so gave it a reasonable score if you're happy with the small site
Weekend stay
Really lovely site, so quiet and easy to get to. Loads of places to visit and great for walks in Dartmoor. Will definitely be returning
Accessible for all
We have had a very pleasant stay here on Mr and Mrs Bailey's CL.
It's so easy to find and 2mns from A30.
Beautiful views ,the noise from A30 took us a while to get used to but after all it's caravan and cars are some of the problem!!!
There are walks from site And bus goes from 100 yds.
Do ensure you approach from main road and not through country roads!
Thanks again
Great CL site
We loved this site, so peaceful with views all around. Everything we needed and easy access. Lovely welcome and helpful hosts. Generally you would need levelling blocks but as we were the only ones there we were offered to stay anywhere in the field and so found a flat spot that didnt need them. Road noise but it didnt bother us at all.
A true gem run by a true gentleman
We only stopped for one night but aside from that what a peaceful place and Mr Bailey what a lovely gentleman this will be our closely guarded secret to keep special.
Tina and Steve down from Dorset.
Lovely site but noisy
Mr. Bailey is very welcoming, helpful and charming.
Regrettably the prevailing wind is from the south west, which blows all the tyre noise from the A30 to the site. In fairness, if your van windows are shut up the noise is not intrusive, but otherwise we found it to be quite disturbing.
Also, in the format in which the site was cordoned off from the main, large, field during our visit, the usable site was a very inconvenient shape, and although the Handbook quotes one acre, there was nowhere near an acre available, especially as there was a large twin axle parked unoccupied at one end.. A fair part of the site is sloping and as a result it was impossible to manoeuvre a van on the car: it would need a mover or be done manually, particularly if the site was full or nearly so. In our opinion, there was really insufficient room for 5 vans, although the presence of motorhomes would improve that as they take up less room and do not have an additional piece of metal to park.
I concur with all the other positive comments about this site.
A Hidden Gem!!!
We have just spent 2 weeks at this little site and loved it. The owner greeted us and helped us choose our pitch, then remained in the background but was available whenever we had a question. Lovely place to stay if you have dogs, which we did.
The site has stunning views - Exmoor in one direction and Dartmoor in the other. Five minutes drive to the town of Okehampton, with a wide range of individual shops and 3 supermarkets. There is a well stocked shop at the garage 2 minutes away, and it is an easy 20 minute drive to Exeter or the charming market town of Tavistock. Around an hour to Padstow, Wadebridge etc. Absolutely ideal for anyone wanting to discover Devon and North Cornwall from a single base.
Yes, there is a little daytime traffic noise from the A30, but that it is a small price to pay for such a convenient location, with EHU and recycling facilites.
We will definitely be returning as soon as possible, and would recommend it to couples, people with dogs and anyone looking for a quiet site.
