Ease of arrival/welcome

If you value good manners give the new Site Warden a wide berth

We visited this CL for the first time during October 2014 enjoying a relaxing three nights on this lovely site. The owner Mrs Smith is a very pleasant lady and made us very welcome. All change for our second visit during October 2015 since the appointment of a new Site Warden. Our friends arrived with their caravan 30 minutes after our arrival. Unfortunately there are 5 signs on the entry gate and our friends missed the one very important sign demanding that they must nor enter site until reporting at the bungalow. I didn't think this should have been a major problem as Mrs Smith had already, very pleasantly, shown me to our pitch and pointed out our friends pitch. Our friends were greeted by the wrath of George "have you reported at the bungalow yet the sign is big enough on the gate". Probably not the best choice of words to be greeted with but tone of voice and body language were appalling. I had always understood that one of the minimum services a CL should provide is "dry rubbish disposal". Site Warden instructed us that the site does not provide facilities for rubbish disposal. "It's only 5mins walk to public bins adjacent to Cattrick Caravans". On arrival we were told to leave our vehicles off site to protect the grass as it had rained heavily 3 days before. There was no evidence that my 2500kg AWD and 1700kg caravan had touched his grass on the way onto the pitch. Position of car was not negotiable he even positioned cones at the entrance when we went out for the day. A bit laughable now, as thinking back he cut the WET GRASS in front of our caravan at 3pm on Sunday. After numerous snipes, from the Site Manager, it was necessary for us to request that the owner call George off and give us some space for the remainder of our visit. During the request, in front of the owner, the Site Warden, in my opinion, demonstrated aggressive behaviour by, with raised voice, walking towards my friend, more than once, invading his personal space. Not the relaxing enjoyable caravanning we have enjoyed during our other 94 nights away this year.
