Perfect CL site

We booked for 2 nights 6th and 7th May 2022 to break our journey home to Bedfordshire from Lundholme Farm Caravan Park (also a CAMC CL site) Ingleton in the Yorkshire Dales. Doddington Oaks turned out to be a delight. All 5 pitches are complete with hook up and on grass. Having said that this small field is more like a lawn such is the quality of the turf. We made the booking through Gillian Beale on Doddington Oaks own website in March and the booking process could not have been simpler. On the day of arrival we were greeted by a most amiable Glyn Beale. He made everything clear and answered all our questions patiently and comprehensively. This included directions on how to access the disused railway cycle track into Lincoln which we enjoyed the following day. If you're interested you do have to cycle on the road for a short distance before getting on the well paved, flat (👏) easy to follow route through beautiful countryside. Otherwise this site has one fresh water tap and an Elsan point and grey water is emptied in the hedge. There is even a "tourist office" by way of an old small caravan equipped with a range of brochures giving information on the local area. There is also some wonderful artwork and greeting cards painted by Gillian who is a talented artist. Oh and some walking sticks/shepherd's crooks made by Glyn himself. We were tempted! At the bottom of the field is a beautiful wood in which Glyn has created a little circular walk. It's magical. Glyn has even set up a swing for the youngsters. There is an abundance of birdlife and we were serenaded with beautiful birdsong during daytime. Sadly we're not knowledgeable enough to recognise them all apart from that of the unmistakable cuckoo. There is a paddock on one side of the field which when we were there was occupied by 6 healthy looking sheep. Perhaps the horse was on a sleepover elsewhere! 😂 The site is kept in pristine condition by Glyn and it seems he's always on hand should you need him. Having said that you are allowed complete privacy and the site is completely self contained. We can't recommend this lovely site enough and we hope to stay there again if we are up that way or to break our journey on a longer trip. You won't be disappointed!
