A Great View

The booking process is made very simple by the proprietor who emails back straight away on contact. The directions on the site website make access to the site straightforward from the nearby A59. Although the bridge over the river is narrow it is easily negotiated with a little care. The site has five generously spaced, level pitches with a great view over the valley to Pendle Hill. We were blessed with glorious sunrises each morning and starlit night skies. Sheep graze alongside the site and owls hoot at dusk but otherwise the site offers quiet solitude. Altogether a pretty idyllic setting. Each pitch has its own water supply and there is a basic but spotless shower and toilet a few yards away. A real bonus was the free WiFi soon to be upgraded to fibre if nearby publicity is to be believed. The Ribble Valley is very beautiful and you can walk from the site in either direction on circular walks that take in nearby villages and the excellent pubs in Sawley, West Bradford and Waddington. We ate at the Spreadeagle in Sawley (£11 for fish and chips and a gorgeous pint) and had an excellent Sunday meal at the Millstones in West Bradford itself. (£20 for two courses.) Further afield, Pendle Hill is within easy reach as are Clitheroe (castle/ shops) and Skipton and this is a cyclist's heaven with routes along the valley or into the Forest of Bowland and the Dales. We stayed three nights and we will be returning in spring.
