Fantastic’

What a fantastic site. We stayed for two nights as a stop while touring the north coast of Scotland. The site is small and on a working croft. It was only us when we arrived and it stayed that way for the whole two nights! The major take away from this site is the outstanding view. We spent hours sat outside the caravan just looking at it. There is plenty to do around the area. We went for a walk through Ledmore and Migdale woods / Loch. We’d recommending using the walking app ‘AllTrails’ for this. We brought a picnic blanket and sat on the Loch side enjoying the view as the dog had a swim. We also had a wonder round Balblair woods, as well as the Falls of Shin where we saw some jumping salmon! Bonar Bridge is good for picking up supplies from the Spar shop. Unfortunately, pubs/ restaurants seemed non existent or shut down. However, just over the bridge there is a lovely view of the Kyle of Sutherland with some interesting information. To get there, use google maps on a smartphone. That will take you directly there. Old school satnav took us to a completely different farm resulting in some awkward tight turning around of the caravan. Russ and Evelyn were incredibly welcoming. Knocked on the door to check in (the site is basically their back garden!) and paid for the two nights via bank transfer. WiFi is supplied and signal is strong. There are also recycling/waste points and a chemical toilet disposal point too. The hosts left us to our own devices for the duration of the stay, although upon leaving Evelyn offered us home grown cucumbers and mustard leaves for our travels - hugely appreciated! The area was quiet, apart from the lovely bleating of sheep, which you’d only expect from a working croft! Even the tractor driver who periodically drove past the site would give us a friendly wave. Overall, hugely recommend for an authentic remote highlands stop. Oh, and drive carefully around the area as there are a BUNCH of bunnies hopping about!
