Ease of arrival/welcome

Disappointing

Unfortunately, we found directions to the site very unclear and ended up going along a road unsuitable for caravans to reach the site. When we arrived, the 'top' part of the site which housed 5 caravans was full and so we had to go into the 'overflow' (an adjoining field) which was on unmown grass about a foot long - not good for our 2 little dogs who were shorter than the grass! The weather was very wet which made the underground conditions even more unpleasant. Cows in the next field escaped a few times and we feared for our caravan being damaged. The owners suggested we might be better moving into the 'top' field (now with spaces) which could be gated more securely. As it was our last day we declined. We were very disappointed with the site for the reasons given above, however, it does have good views across to Glastonbury Tor and the surrounding countryside. The owners of the site were welcoming and friendly and stated that they had not cut the grass due to wet weather and that some caravanners dont like loose grass in the field after cutting. However, the top field was cut and we would have been happy in there had there been space for us - we had booked in advance. All in all, the site was quiet and basic (no problem for us as that's why we choose CL sites), well situated, but needs better directions on how to get there and attention to the field conditions in view of the excessively long grass and the escaping cows.
