Jiffy the Motorhome

The site contacted us before our holiday to inform us of the gate code and our pitch number which was very helpful. Beautifully laid out site. Two pitches are on the canal site and the other three against the fence. Water and waste disposal are on the right of the gates as you enter. Trees and shrubs have been planted for privacy from the road and to also hide the fences. They will be gorgeous when they have a chance to mature. The staff were very helpful on arrival, giving out maps to shops and local pubs. The marina is well set out with a shop, picnic tables, bins, toilets and showers. You have to walk about 120 meters along the road on the right of the gates to connect to the tow path. Most of the traffic beep their horns as they go over the bridge for safety, but the road is quite quiet most times. The A43 runs parallel to the canal, so we found it a little noisy the first evening, but it died down through the night. We never left the site in our Motorhome as there are so many walks and cycle paths to choose from. The canal path towards Northampton is quite wide to cycle on, with plenty of space for walkers too. Northampton has many green areas to visit-Upton Park, Hunsbury Park, Ladywell park and a hidden oasis which the dogs love is Sixfields Reservoir and nature reserve. We googled local bridlepaths for the area and spent a lot of time walking in the beautiful countryside adjacent to th e canal. There is a Premiere shop in the village of Blisworth which is a short walk along the canal to the left, where we stopped for a picnic. If you go right at the canal junction, the next village shop us Nina's; and they also have a fabulous pet shop and takeaway too. So much to do here, but we only had 6 days. Definitely will be back.
