Terrible. Absolutely terrible!

Having read the other reviews, I booked a pitch on this site with confidence. That confidence was shattered the moment I arrived. For some reason there are seven pitches on this 5x pitch CL site. Every one of the seven pitches was occupied and I was the eighth van on site! With nowhere for me to pitch up I rang the owners (three times), no answer. I walked around to the house and knocked and knocked, no answer from the from door either. I had no alternative but to leave, there was simply nowhere for me to pitch up. The site itself was in a shocking state too. It looks like a building site, there are half built out-buildings which going by other reviews here have been in this state for well over a year now. The site is completely untidy, very overgrown, bits of building rubble and timber strewn all over the place. I have reported this site to the CC. Thank heavens for the Much Wenlock site ten minutes down the road who were able to accommodate us at such short notice and welcomed us with open arms. AVOID THIS SITE!

Relaxing break

Stayed for 5 nights over August Bank Holiday and were surprised to find only 3 out of 5 pitches occupied over the weekend. Clearly this lovely site is a well-kept secret! Two showers and two toilets/wash cubicles were kept clean & we're always pleased to find a selection of recycling bins for use (come on other CLs - it's not hard!). Even when there were 5 pitches in use, we never felt that we were crammed in due to there being 7 pitches in all and a large grassy areas that isn't used for pitching. Access via Church Stretton was easy and picturesque. Some of the other lanes in the vicinity are more hair-raising though, so take care which route you chose when towing. Heartily recommend the Royal Oak at Cardington for a meal & well-kept ales but take care on Gilberries Lane north of the site and watch out for tractors! We didn't see the owners in all the time we were there, but we understand from fellow caravanners that this isn't unusual. Overall, a peaceful and relaxing site with easy access to plenty of places of interest - castles, towns, walks and cycle rides in the stunning Shropshire countryside.

nice stay

Just returned from a 4 night break, our first one at gilberries. Nice site, toilets and showers cleaned every day and were of a good standard for a cl site. We approached the site from church stretton & didnt find it easy to locate as the street sign was on the left hand side of the lane so just be careful. Good location though. We visited ludlow which was lovely and much wenlock which was lovely too. Overall, a nice short break & we would return again.

I nice quiet location

We've just returned from 4 nights at this site, found it a good place to explore the county.  Site was well kept, toilet block and showers excellent for a CL.  Owner very friendly and helpful.  This was our first time staying on a CL and found it excellent, and will be looking for more CL's in future as the Caravan Club sites are getting very expensive.  Will definitely be returning.

A great base to explore.

We recently spent a week at this site. Only one pitch available on arrival so we had to have it. The pitch had the least sunshine but that didn't spoil our stay. Hard standing pitches.  Some road noise but it is not backing onto a main road. We didn't see the owners who left us to our own devices.  A great location to explore Longmynd, Church Stretton, Much Wenlock, Ironbridge, Ludlow, Clun and much more.  It's a shame there was nowhere to let our dog off the lead on site or nearby, but we still had a fab time.

Come and go as you please

Stayed for 2 nights as a base for walking The Long Mynd. Turned up and pitched. Paid later as directed. Plenty of space to spread out. Pitches level and grass newly mown, Hard standings in need of more gravel, but otherwise all o.k. Toilet and shower block cleaned daily. There is even a washing up sink. The lack of Wi-Fi does not make a jot of difference to the enjoyment of this site. In fact it enhances it! There is good access to Church Stretton and Much Wenlock. Shrewsbury is not too far away either. The only slight downside was the smell from the farm (when the wind was in the wrong direction) but, hey this is countryside. Get used to it. Hope to return and walk in the area again.

Great site but no WiFi

This is a lovely site with nice views and a very quiet location. We didn't see the owners at all and just left our money in the envelopes provided. This was fine but the information did say there was WiFi but there was no information about which host to use or passwords. There was someone staying on site who had been there before who told us this information but did say that the reception was really not very good. However, we could not get into it at all using an IPad. Toilets and showers were very clean and very nice. Would stay again if we could get WiFi.

good but needs some TLC

We enjoy staying at Gilberries but just wish that work that has been started could be finnished! (Big pot hole at the entrance and either pull down the half built toilet block or build it, it makes the CL look untidy.

Peaceful place to stay

We have just returned having stayed mid week for three nights. It is a place that is probably not great for children as it is small with not too much open space for them. There is however a local town called Church Stretton which has a well maintained play area. The site itself is well set out and there is ample space to set up your van and an awning. The name of the local pub is The Plough and on Sundays there is live jazz but we dropped in on a Monday and found about 15 people all playing ukulele's. A really good night. All the surrounding area needs exploring as there are some interesting places to see. This is a CL that we shall visit again.
