Ease of arrival/welcome

Barn Owls and beautiful views

This was our first visit to the Lincolnshire Wolds and Grange Farm. Having read the various reviews regarding the excellence of this CL our expectations were high and we were not disappointed. On arrival we were greeted with a Welcome board directing us to our pitch. The area surrounding the pitches is immaculate with well-kept grass areas and lovely sheltering hedges around the whole of the site. The passion Tim and Diane have for this venture is clear to see with everything they do. They walked past the pitches each afternoon to ensure that all was well and were very helpful with local knowledge. There is a good space between each of the pitches and the waste disposal, recycling and water point are clean, accessible and well lit at night. The ladies and gents toilets and the shower were always immaculate and warm with additional heating if required. We did not use the facility but in a building behind the shower block was a combined laundry area complete with washing machine, tumble dryer together with shelves holding videos, books and games. The real delight for those who do not know the area was the tourist section. This was very professionally set out with a whole series of walks over the Wolds area some of which could be taken directly from the site and leaflets on many different aspects of the culture and history of the area. It is not an exaggeration to say that some Tourist Offices we have visited would be put to shame! There are two pubs in Tetford as well as a general shop and tea room. We did not have time to try these out but did have a really good meal at the Blue Bell Inn in nearby Belchford. This was picked from the Good Pub Guide and not only is the food excellent with friendly attentive staff but the range of beers on offer was of a high standard – quite the nicest pint of Black Sheep outside Yorkshire. We had not realised how much this part of the country has to offer and we will be back as quickly as we can to spend more time visiting the surrounding countryside and enjoying waking up each morning at Grange Farm. The Barn Owl in the title spent many an evening quartering the ground immediately in front of our caravan and we are also told that there is every opportunity of seeing kingfishers around the two beautiful lakes on the other side of the hedge from the site.
