Easy to get to with great view

There are loads of CLs on Anglesey. This is the most expensive we’ve stayed on, and the only that charges an extra £2 for winter use. But it is justified because it is easy to get to with good access, all weather pitches with great view and well located for the Anglesey Coastal Path and A5025: the busy Anglesey circular road. Gateway wide though outfits approaching from the north will have to swing out across the road to turn in. CL owner Mrs Barber met us as we pulled into their large gravel drive/parking area next to their bungalow. CL is other side of bungalow and slightly downhill which screens the A5025 traffic so you are aware of the traffic but it isn’t intrusive (thus loss of 1 tick on ratings). All pitches are hard stands. Pitches 1-4 surrounded by grass and sloping. Campers need pitch 5 which is just about level. Owners have plenty of levelling blocks available. Pitch 4 has gravel approach so can be used all year. Pitches 1-3 grass approach. Pitches 1-2 are close together – the others more spaced out. Great view of Red Wharf Bay – even in the rain. The Bull is less than 100m from the CL entrance – carvery less than £7. Quiet lane to Red Wharf Bay starts 45m from CL entrance and is 1000m to edge of bay. Anglesey Coastal Path goes round the bay and beyond in both directions. At the very highest tides this section will be under water, but is accessible under most tidal conditions. Path to left has muddy sections and goes to Red Wharf Bay village (25 minutes). I recommend calling in the Old Boathouse Café for coffee and cake. At low tide condition continue round the headland on the sand to Benllech. Alternatively at the end of the CL lane turn right and walk about 2 miles through the sand. This goes through a car park on the beach which is 5 minutes’ drive from the CL – handy if 1000m lane is too long. CL is open all year so ideal for out of season.
