Setting the standards, well done !!!

We visited this Cl after a recommendation from a very good friend, we are CL owners ourselves who have one an award from the Caravan Club as to the standard of our own CL, this CL is what all CL's should reach to achieve, it is very well laid out in a lovely picturesque part of Norfolk and Mrs Younge was more than happy for myself and my Son James to use the tennis court at anytime, totally enjoyed our visit look forward to seeing you all again this summer, Andrew & James CL owner Rockingham CL and ps.. granny.

Dissapointing

lets start with the good bitts: lovely shower and toilet facilities, immaculate, although didn't seem to be heated (February half term), a very pleasant owners daughter who popped over to see if we were ok and an amazing tennis court that we could use the bad bits: the two acre site is more like 0.5 acre as we found the site to be very un kept and could only pitch on a very small area, the grass was extremely long (owner did say when I booked that it wasn't lawn length) she was quite right, it was very muddy and boggy, the caravan beside us had to be towed off by a tractor and he had a 4x4 too! We had to clear at least 4 piles of dogs doings up around where we pitched, and there was plenty more, the owners had two large dogs that seem to roam, the shower that we had the water was cold at a Ā£1.00 price, it was nice to see the horses, the only other view would be the hedge or the industrial type goings on (yes I know its a business) but I think some kind of screening would be advantageous or trees etc, personally I don't think this site should be open all year, prepare to get stuck! such a shame could be so much more

Highly Recommended CL

Although we only stayed one night whilst travelling through Norfolk we will definitely revisit for a longer stay. Good access to the site which is very well kept and flat. Nice location with lots of country lanes for cycling straight from the site and lots to see on the coast and the broads nearby. (We enjoyed Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens). The owner was very friendly and she was helpful but not at all intrusive. The shower was a nice bonus too! We would highly recommend this CL.

Excellent CL

Great site and location for the broads. Stayed 8 nights and found plenty to keep us occupied . Great area for exploring on the bikes as the back roads are reasonably quiet. Mr & Mrs Younge have a tennis court in their garden which they were happy to let us use. Overall a perfect holiday.

always a warm welcome

hall farm is a personal favourite of mine, being an annual visitor to Norfolk.i have seen this c l progress to what it is today & commend both mr & mrs younge on the improvements made.you must be aware of the rural setting & the contribution to conservation around the site.a little light industry is carried out next door, but nothing to marr or spoil anyone's holiday.the only addition I would like to see are pitch allocation numbers,as I have noted some of our members tend to be a little greedy with the amount of space needed.all in all a >its a gem< & hope to make many more visits.

Hidden gem .

A lovely site tucked away in beautiful Norfolk countryside . A short distance from sandy family friendly beaches several of which have free all day parking with nearby toilets . There is more then enough activities available in the area area to keep even the biggest fidgets occupied . I can recommend a visit to the hotel spa in Caister for a chill out . The site is easily accessible bye a small driveway and is well sign posted . The hedges keep the site well sheltered and pitches are a good size . A level dry site which we have used in January and we were greeted by the owners with mugs of hot coffee ,and the local wildlife is amazing . A new shower and toilet block is being completed as I write . Looking forward to our next visit which I have already booked .

A Bit Disappointing

Site was not easy to find as there is no CL sign and the entrance appears to be to an industrial unit. There was less than an acre useable for vans - there is a huge bank of nettles and scrub, behind which is an exercise area for horses and judging by where the electric points are placed and how tall the nettles are, I would say that 2 acres have not been available for caravans for quite a long time. There are horses crossing the site morning and evening, so that rules out another large section. The owners' dogs, although friendly, were allowed onto the site where they left daily "deposits" which was most unwelcome. The owners were away during our visit and their dogs barked throughout the night, although obviously we have no idea if this happens when they are home. We could not find anyone around during our stay and found it impossible to pay for the site, so despite them requesting cash, we had to post a cheque when we got home. The site is in a great location for exploring the Broads and the coast, but there are a lot of early morning comings and goings from the adjacent industrial unit and people connected with the horses. All in all, we had a good holiday, but would not return to this site, sadly.

Comment from CL Owner:

I would like to thank this member for feedback and express my regret that the site did not meet our usual high standards.  It is continually being upgraded and over the winter months 2013/14 we made several changes but one or two things were not quite finished at the time of the visit.

To address the issues raised:

The access has been improved and there is now a large splay off the road to a double five-bar gate. There is a CL sign clearly in view from both directions.

Possibly the exact measurement of the site needs to be recalculated.  For ease, a few years ago the electric points were installed around a smaller area; however the sense of space remains.

We do have horses and they cross the site twice a day - many members enjoy this.

On our return, there were no 'deposits' to be found and this is certainly not considered acceptable, although we do welcome dogs. Our dogs are indeed friendly and they were in the house for all but one of the nights so would not be heard on the CL site at night, although it is easy to confuse dogs barking with foxes or deer.

The person responsible for the site in our absence tried many times to visit your van in an attempt to address your concerns and left a note with her number - it is often difficult to coincide with members being on site.

The nettles and long grass is good for conservation and form a boundary to the area used by the vans, which is level, well-drained and mown regularly.

We take all comments seriously and following this review, we have decided to either close the site when we are away or have a warden present.  We are currently building a new loo and shower, which will be inspected later this month for inclusion in the next Sites Directory and Handbook. It is hoped that future members will enjoy these upgraded facilities along with the many lovely footpaths, easy access to the beach and Broads, and the use of the tennis court in a congenial rural setting.
