Great stopover CL not far from A1

We stayed here in July for 3 nights to break up our journey from Durham to Kent. It was easy to find although we read the instructions incorrectly and had to ring for help. The owners were very responsive and helpful. Alison was there to meet us at the gate and gave us a selection of pitches. Some were sloped, others less so. We picked the one that was fairly level though did require a ramp under one wheel. Nothing too difficult to do. All the fixed pitches are hard standing but you can go on the grass if you want. The campsite is on a nice gated field with well cut grass and plenty of room for 5 vans. One side overlooks a field with views across farmland. Each pitch has electric and there is one tap In the field to share. The elsan emptying point is at one corner of the field and is clean and well kept. There are walks nearby, some that lead to the river Trent if you want to venture that way. It is also close to Sherwood Forest, Clumber park and of course Lincoln. The hosts were excellent, answered all our questions and gave good advice. Overall, this is a great CL with easy access off the A1 and A57. We would certainly use it when we next venture that way from Kent. It is what it is and I cannot find anything negative to say about it.

Peace and tranquility

This is such a lovely down to earth CL site. The owners are really nice and helpful. The location is great for exploring the area and we couldn't have had a nicer stay. This was our second stay at Hall Farm, the previous time was in winter, the weather was pretty bad but even that didn't take away from the peace of the place. This time we stayed a little longer and it was so nice being on a working farm. A really warm welcome awaited us, the facilities were clean and tidy, the information pointing us to the local attractions was perfect. 5* basic CL site.

Christmas Market

The owner, Alison, was helpful from booking through to departure. We arrived in the dark and Alison was there on the road with a torch to direct us onto the site. She made sure we were able to pitch as there had been some rain. Lovely views from the site and we enjoyed walking across to their Christmas Shop and purchased some Christmas decs. Helpful on departure too! We would definitely use this site again when we come back to enjoy the sights of Lincoln in better weather and without the crowds of the Christmas Market! A good site for £12 per night.

Badly maintained site.

Arrived on site to be met by a dirty sunken muddy entrance at the gate way. You have to drive through a swamp to enter and exit the site. If you don't have a four wheel drive tow car bog down is inevitable. Can't leave on foot unless wearing wellington boots. Electric supply kept tripping out. I know we have had some rotten wet weather this year but it's hard to believe that the owners are farmers lets face it only a trailer full of gravel needed at the gateway and its sorted.

Response from the Club:

Many thanks for your review. The CL Owner has been in touch as she wanted to address your concerns. During your stay in December there had been exceptionally bad weather with days of rain prior to your visit. This resulted in there being a puddle by the entrance gate of the CL Site and we are sorry that this caused you difficulties when arriving on site. Please be assured this is not normally the case and was only due to the exceptionally bad weather at the time. They were not aware that you were having issues with the Electricity during your stay and would have been more than happy to help. Their electrician who carried out the Electric check in February confirmed there were no issues with the electrics so it may be that the 10 amps trip was overloaded. They have had no other complaints about the electric and the electrician has checked this as they take complaints of this sort very seriously as they work hard to ensure everyone has the best possible time. We hope this helps address your concerns.

Just what a CL should be!

Close-mown, fenced-off area of a larger pasture. Five suitably sized, and well spaced hard standings, some of which will need careful levelling. Apart from the many rabbits, we were the only clients. Convenient, without being too close to main road, and traffic noise was not intrusive. Warm and friendly welcome, and given a very informative leaflet pointing out local trades and businesses. Basic CL facilities and excellent value for money!

Good Site

We recently spent a weekend on this nice quiet site. Access is easy and the site is level. The attractions of Lincoln are only a short drive away. The only downside to this site is it looks like they had recently used the field for sheep grazing and you had to be careful where you trod. Other than that, very nice.

Comment from the Club:

Many thanks for your review and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Hall Farm. The CL owner has been in touch as she wanted to let you know that they do not graze sheep on the site but they do occasionally run sheep through the site to get to the field beyond it. We hope this clears up any confusion and the CL owner hopes to welcome you again soon.
