Ease of arrival/welcome

Nice site pity about the facilities

The site is a large field with a slope where you pitch set between the farm access track and a very quiet road amid lovely views of the surrounding countryside. All the site facilities are close by just across the track. There are cattle grids beween the road and the site and the farm and the site so anyone unsteady on their feet who could not balance on the metal rungs would have to drive across these barriers. There is a great deal to do in the area. Each evening about 100+ cows appeared in the field across the road but they had gone when we awoke in the morning. Although we have stayed on many dairy farms before we have never encountered so many flies so we could not sit outside. The toilet and shower are housed in the type of buildings you see on building sites for the workmen and the shower wasn't very clean. The elsan disposal point was a large metal container which rose about three feet off the ground and you stand on a brick to reach up to empty your cassette into where everyone else has emptied theirs. When we were there it was very full and my husband, who worked on a farm for some years, so certainly isn't finicky described it as disgusting. On arrival a man came out of a building and told us to park where we liked and 'is there anything else' before disappearing back to the cowshed. We decided to leave after two nights although we had booked for a week but there was no interest expressed in why we were leaving and just a thank you for the money I handed over.
