Stunning site and a warm welcome!

This is an absolutely beautiful site in East Sussex. On arrival we pulled up in our camper van to see a personalised welcome message on a board by the entrance, and after a quick beep of the horn, were greeted by the lovely Graham a calm and genial host. The site itself is gorgeous and the toilets and shower are completely immaculate. We only stayed for one night but will most definitely be back for a longer stay. Can’t recommend this place highly enough!!! Dave and Mel

Magical place a hidden Gem

We stayed here for 10 nights. It is truly one of the best kept C.L. sites we have ever stayed at. Graham and Katherine work hard to keep this site spotless. The grass is cut and collected. The water and hook up to each pitch is great, and the water pressure is superb (Don't leave your tap on full when you’re out for the day as we did, because it the pressure is so high it forced the hose off the tap, Graham was superb about this and sorted it out in our absence, as us caravaners say.... every day’s a school day!) The toilets and shower are cleaned daily and have great water pressure. Graham is a charming chap who is chatty and relaxed Katherine is also kind and works tirelessly especially watering the plants and caring for the animals. It’s the little touches that make this so unique, Graham took the time to tell all the site members that there would be some noise and dust due to the hay being turned and bailed and that he hoped this would be ok? Now that is thoughtful isn’t it? As said previously if there was a model of a perfect site owner then hands down these guys have nailed it. Yes, it is near to a road, frankly we did not notice, as you are in such a peaceful place that truly is beautiful. The location is brilliant Eastbourne is 30 Minutes away, the pub " The Hare and Hounds" is a great little pub, we didn't eat but the food looked amazing and the chef managed to get all the food out on time even for a couple of big bookings that where there. The locals made us feel very welcome and the staff work very hard indeed. Uckfield is a thriving town and has everything you could need and its 5 minutes away. I don’t often write reviews however Hammonds Green deserves 10 out of 10, I do hope that we return next year with pals to share the secret of this beautiful well managed site. Thank you Graham and Katherine well done and we are amazed that you have achieved all this in three years. Jayne and Lea

Chilling.. :(

Ok.. so first the bad (and there isn't much)... There is some road noise during the day. It doesn't intrude much at all, though, and the road is not visible in the summer at all due to the verdant foliage obscuring it. I like my peace, but have a pop top (open top) caravan, and did it marr my 2 week stay there?? No. Not one bit. Now to the good, and the best thing about this site is the human connection to it. I found Graham to be both warm and chilled at the same time, very kind, funny & helpful whilst also discrete. In fact, were it possible to have the perfect cl owner hewn from something, Graham should be the hewing formula :) There are 5 pitches, four of which are fairly flat and have electricity and water taps on them, and one that has a fair old slope on it, but no water tap. I actually chose the sloped pitch as it gave the best side view of the lovely lake, plus have a small caravan capable of sitting there. I didn't bring an awning, but Graham assured me the pitch was capable of one, plus even much larger units placed sideways.. I opted for the normal orientation, which resulted in a breathtaking drop (requiring borrowed blocks) which gave me an elevated lake panorama from the bedroom... Haha.. This is by no means necessary for any unit, but it did suit my needs.. The only other downside there for me was that when the site got full, people plumbed their taps to their caravans and so there was sometimes a walk to retrieve water from the tap near the toilet block. Another tap plumbed up to pitch 5 would be a plus, but no biggie at all. Having an onboard water tank this gave me a bit of extra exercise, which I in no way resented. It is a lovely pitch if you value peace and privacy. The toilets at this site cannot be bettered. There is a dish/clothes washing sink at the rear of the block, and 2 toilets (designated male and female, but no one is too worried about that at the daily thorough cleaning). In a nutshell, they are gorgeous.. And the heated towel rail in the shower is a godsend re damp towels. The grass on the site is always kept immaculate, and the lake life vibrant. I saw a Heron most mornings, and the moorhen chicks are highly amusing and adorable. The best thing about the lake is the Canadian geese family. The youngster has unfortunately broken a wing, and so the parents have stayed there with her/him for the support they can provide. Touching. I even watched them encouraging flying, resultanting in the occasional eventide rush down the length of the green in a flurry of honking and flapping! Fabulous evening entertainment. My heart goes out to them and wish them well. There is a pub a 5 minute up the road which Graham recommended but I sadly never got to given the beauty and peace (plus well stocked fridge) within my own confines! This is a beautiful and extremely well appointed site in a very beautiful part of the world and I recommend you do not pass up the chance to stay there.

Great Site

Warm welcome, beautiful setting, grounds very well looked after, water & hook up to each pitch, cleanest loos and showers ever, lovely walks, dog friendly pub/restaurant less than 5 minutes walk away, and less than 5 minutes drive from Uckfield with all shops, restaurants, bars, cinema etc and the coast less than 30 minutes away and all topped off by really friendly and accommodating owners so whats not to like we would thoroughly recommend it and will go back another day.

Lulely Jubbly.

We stayed at this site twice last year 4 weeks in all and once so far this year for 2 weeks and will be back in September for another 9 days... the tranquillity is wonderful, at times its another world The weather has been really good this year and in the spring the Canadian Geese are about with the duck and the moorhens.. Graham and family are very very nice people and very friendly , jhon keeps the grass looking like a lawn at Wimbledon and the toilet and shower are spotless. What more could you wish for...….. Like I said Luverly Jubbly…… Steve and Marion...

One ofhe best

Initially booked for 2 nights inJune 2019 but quickly extended it to 4 once we got here. Well situated for local walks, pretty site overlooking small lake, easy access, good loos and a shower, dish washing and chem loo disposal and lovely people. Some road noise during the day.
