Peace and quiet - just what we wanted!
We've used CL sites before and would never go back to a main site again, sites like Heath Cottage are the reason why. Only 5 pitches (2 hardstanding, 3 grass) but by far the most room we've ever had. So spacious and the grounds are well maintained. There is field accessed by a gate you can use to walk your dog - it's huge! It appears to be completely contained within a wire fence but I think a smaller dog may be able to wriggle through in place so be aware.
There is a single combined toilet block and shower room. With five pitches you may occasionally have to wait a few minutes but that's no big deal, you're on holiday after all. My only suggestion to Terry would be to smarten up the shower. It's certainly functional and clean but looks a bit drab and unappealing.
Terry greeted us on arrival, he was welcoming and has good local knowledge. He was also happy to lend me his step ladders so that I could repair my ariel which had gotten knocked over at some point on the journey. The nearest shop is at the Post Office in Manorbier - Google maps lists it as a Londis but in fact it's a Nisa and very expensive so do your shopping while you're out and about. Manorbier beach is an absolute gem, soft sand flanked by rock pools and pebbles to one side. Toilets and loads of cheap car parking (tip - put the Pay by Phone app on your mobile) and a short walk to Manorbier Castle for refreshments.
If you're towing from England ignore your satnav when it tells you to take a left turning and leave the A477, stay on it a few more miles and go to Pembroke. From there take the Upper Lamphey Road (last exit on the roundabout) to Lamphey and then the A4139 to Jameston. When towing away from site don't be tempted to save a few miles by taking the Tenby Rd, there's a vicious tight turn under a bridge where traffic in both directions narrows to a single lane. Just go back the way you came in.
All in all we'd highly recommend Heath Cottage for a quiet, relaxing getaway.
