Maybe OK for some...

A site with beautiful views and most convenient for the Talyllyn Railway, but… For a 5-unit site there were 9 on some nights and regulars told us there have been more. There’s plenty of room for them all (with exceptions … see below) but shouldn’t “5” mean “5”? In conversation with some caravanners on the site they didn’t seem to know much about the Club or its rules. Made us wonder if they were actually members, particularly as we weren’t asked for our membership cards or number either when booking, on arrival or at any time during our stay. As a member-owned site we also wondered what type of unit they had ... we never saw one anywhere. Flocks of sheep were regularly herded through the site. This isn’t a problem in itself but sheep droppings and dog dirt are two different things so we do find it objectionable when sheep dogs leave their mess (defecate) right next to our unit and we have to clear it up! Folk from the self-catering cottages also use the CL field as a dog walk … not great when sitting outside your unit. We might not have bothered to highlight any of the above if the crucial 20-feet (6-metre) rule hadn’t also been broken. To us, safety is paramount … we’ve seen the results of fires! A unit was told to site next to us leaving a gap of less than 4 metres! We put our car between the two units and could only partly open the doors each side. Needless to say, we didn’t leave the car there! Part of the site owner’s response when pointing out the fire hazard was, effectively, “Well, you’ve got 90 seconds to get out of caravan if there’s a fire”. He also suggested that the spacing was partly our fault (we’d been there for over 3 weeks) for siting our unit longways on. Two other units in our row were sited the same way, one having been told to so by the owner. So, please don’t pass the buck! If you’re not bothered by too many units, dog dirt, possibly non-members on site or the 6-metre safety rule … this is a pretty good site.
