Nearly perfect

Why nearly? Well a few people grumbled during our stay that the CL slopes too much. It's true that it does slope as it's set on a hillside that runs down to the village of Monyash but the owners have provided a multitude of levelling blocks for their guests to use (either found lying around the site from previous users or. in the crate by the bins. We were able to pitch nearer the bottom of the slope and found it only needed a slight adjustment. One person complained that it was too windy to put up an awning. Well it is located at a high point in the Peak District but it is sheltered by mature trees and anyway the owners cannot control the weather. The compensation for all of this is wonderful views of a countryside that was quite majestic. Our view from the caravan was framed by two maple tree trunks and nothing finer is hanging in any art gallery. The grass (no hardstandings) is well mowed and well kept by the owners, who are very friendly and go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Despite some serious downpours on the two days before we left we had no problem exiting the site. The owners have to recycle and the bin area is well set out with different coloured bins for the refuse. The elsan toilet point is easy to use. The site is conveniently located for getting to most of the main attractions, being about 5 miles from Buxton on the Buxton-Ashbourne road, which incidentally does not cause any noise problems. Dog walking is a bit restrictive on site but the owners do not mind you using the fields surrounding the CL for exercising the dog but please be considerate and pick up after the dog, a trait missing from a few of our fellows stayers. The owners do provide a dog waste bin. You might also attract the attention of the heifers that roam the fields. If that doesn't suit for Fido then the Tissington Trail is only about 800 yards away. We enjoyed our stay and I could never get tired of the view so I guess we'll be back when next passing through the Peak District. Thank you to Jo and Tom, both for the CL and also for their friendliness.
