We stayed for only 1 night as we wanted to do the Forest of Dean Park Run, and the CL is only a couple of miles away from the start. However, we struggled to find the site (we came from the Brecon Beacons) and once arrived no one around to tell us which pitch to use. As it was raining we pitched up and hoped it was OK. The grass is very long, and there was no info around regarding the waste/water etc. There was dog poo (the owner has a border collie that is left to run around the field unaccompanied) we didn't expect to have to wear wellies in July to avoid the poo and keep our feet dry. The cost of the CL is £15 per night, and it's the most we have paid in over 4 years of using CL's, and have enjoyed more facilities eg toilet, shower and mowed grass for much less money. The views from the site are lovely, and the nearest town has everything you need.

For future reference the site directions are in the Sites Directory & Handbook and on The Club website. The farm is named on the ordnance survey map and the postcode works on sat-navs. Please note if you were still having difficulties, the CL owners would have been more than happy to help if you had called them for assistance.

The CL Owners always aim to greet guests but as you did not arrive until 9pm they were unsure if you were still coming as they had not been advised you had been delayed.

Regarding the dog mess on site, as the CL is a working sheep farm their dogs are never allowed to be unaccompanied. The dog mess may have been left by previous guests and the CL owner is very sorry that this affected your enjoyment of the site and would like to assure you that this is not normally an issue. If you had notified them, they would have been more than happy to remove the mess and offer you an alternative pitch. The price and facilities are all described on the site details page website and in the Sites Directory & Handbook and all guests are again informed when making a booking. The CL owners have recently invested in electric hook up, secure fencing and an information hub and plan to continue to invest in the CL Site next year, including the purchase of a more reliable grass cutting machine to ensure visitors have a lovely experience when on site.

As you can see from previous reviews, many people have had a wonderful experience when staying here and have very much enjoyed their stay, so we are sorry that you did not enjoy your 1 night here.
