One night stay

Stayed for one night as a stopover from Devon. Easy access in and out, lovely friendly owner. Facilities well laid out and clean. Great views from pitches. Would definitely stay there again. Just for info it is right next door to Salisbury Hillside Club site and even though it has no washroom facilities it is very good value at £15pn. Brilliant as a stopover.

Excellent CL

We stayed at Highview for a long weekend with our grandchildren. There is no problem with arrival as the CL is down a short tarmac track just past the caravan club site. The CL is set in glorious countryside & the views are lovely. The ground is slightly sloping so you do need blocks to get level but this was no problem. The grass was kept short & this is part of a large field that is left over to a wild meadow with mowed paths for exploring. A lovely CL site & friendly owners.

First Stay

A very warm welcome by owners a nice open site with good views over the country side. A little road noise at peak times but nothing to worry about. Although there is no Toilet/shower block facilities are cleaned down every morning and at £15 a night with EHU this site is bargain. Park & Ride is 8 miles away but not suitable for Motor Homes due to height barrier there is a bus service 5 iminutes away on the main road to Salisbury but is about every 2 hours . Army Air museum is 5 minutes up the road worth a visit for a couple hours.

A lovely base for visiting Salisbury

Our first time of visiting Salisbury, and we were lucky to find this lovely base from which to explore. A spacious and well tended field, with picturesque views of Salisbury Plain. Access to the site was easy, just next to a garage and down the same short lane that leads to the main C&MC site. Refuse bins, fresh water supply, grey water disposal and chemical disposal were all clean and well organised - there was even a box of books available to borrow, as well as laminated local walks. Vanessa was welcoming and helpful when needed, but otherwise just left us to enjoy our break. There's a bus stop 3 minutes walk from the site, with a number of buses to and from Salisbury each day - they take a circuitous route through secluded villages, but at least you get to see some of the local countryside on your way! Salisbury itself was cold in mid-January, but there were lots of warm coffee shops and pubs to try, and a wide range of shops - plus a market on Saturday and, of course, the beautiful cathedral. There's a super short half hour dog walk accessible from the site, or far longer walks that take you to nearby villages. The TV signal was strong, as were both Vodafone and Three signals. There is some slight noise from the nearby main road, but it didn't disturb us at all. Overall we were delighted with our choice and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Fabulous!

Could not fault the hospitality and care given by the owners to keep their visitors safe and happy. It's a very pretty site and well placed for all the so very interesting places to visit just a short drive away. We stayed for 5 nights and would have been very happy to stay much longer. Yes there is no toilet or shower but for £15 a night it's an absolute bargain. There is a bit of a slope but it's manageable. The facilities are spotlessly clean and we witnessed them being sanitised regularly every morning. If you want beautiful views and a warm reception coupled with the near proximity of delightful villages and the medieval city of Salisbury this is the place to go. I recommend Highview unreservedly.

Good site but confusing signage

This is a sloping site on a grass hill and you'll probably need the supplied wooden blocks. Best to leave the handbrake on! There are six well-spaced and marked pitches all in a row like soldiers on parade each with room for a van/awning/car unit. The usual fresh water, grey water, recycling and chemiloo facilities are at the end of the field nearest the CMC main site. As there is no toilet or shower £16pn seems slightly overpriced. There's an adjacent bridal way for dog walks and the farmer has cut paths for kids to cycle in the otherwise high grass down the field. Satellite TV was difficult with a tripod-mounted dish and a high tree line to the south east. Freeview was OK - vertical polarisation seems to work best. We had no problems with mobile phone signals. Confusingly the owner randomly leaves the entrance gate chained and padlocked which means on arrival you have to go up the drive marked strictly private to get onto the site at the top end. Even if the gate is open the sign indicates it's a parking area, not necessarily the CL. More consistency in signage and gate opening is required, preferably leaving it open from about 8am to 11pm every day. There are lots of things to do in the area with Salisbury and Winchester and their historic attractions not far away. For steam buffs the Watercress Line is reasonably close for a day visit and, if you happen to be on-site on an open day, Twyford Waterworks is worth a visit.

Best CL we have visited

Just had six days at this wonderful site, the owners are really nice people and go out of the way to be helpful. Everything is spotless and the view and tranquillity is wonderful. I don't know why I'm writing this review because I want to keep the site for myself. Had to leave early due to a death in the family but we will be back.
