Everything a CL should be

We had a wonderful week in early July at Donald & Cynthia’s perfect CL. Variable weather didn’t spoil a thing & the site remained pristine despite some hefty rain showers. Other reviews have covered everything from the warm friendly welcome to the beauty of the peaceful area - it really does not disappoint. We welcomed the laminated map & were able to explore every footpath & quiet lane walk on it over the course of the week. Our little dog slept like a baby on the 7 hour journey home! If we are in the area again, we will happily return to Hill Farm, an outstanding little haven within easy reach of Exmoor & the Jurassic Coast. Grateful thanks.

Wonderful site

This was our first visit to this site and it won’t be the last. Donald & Cynthia are lovely, very welcoming and keep the site in tip top condition and the access to the site is a very easy drive from the main road. There is a recycling box and a bin at each pitch and the water tap is easily accessible. The waste water area is very clean and tidy. The site is lovely, with well cut grass and fabulous views across the fields as far as the Blackdown Hills and Exmoor. Thank you.

Amazing as ever

Love this site, we’ve been coming at least once per year for the last ten years. Friendly owners, great views, large site. You can wander down and meet the calves in the barns, or chat with the sheep in the fields. Highly recommended.

Recent Stay in the Hot Weather

The owners Donald & Cynthia are very welcoming and helpful they couldn't do enough for us during the very hot spell this month (July) checked on us every day and offered us to sit in one of there barns to avoid the heat. Site is very clean and well kept the views across the Valley are outstanding along with the sunsets. Will certainly stay again when next passing this way.We had a very nice meal at The Docks at Dinnington 5 minutes away by car

Hill Farm

Donald and Cynthia are very welcoming and happy to advise and offer help on local venues hospitality walks etc. Fantastic views and beautiful sunsets. Great selection of footpaths and many circular walks. It's a working farm with cows and sheep and Bobby the sheep dog is beautiful and very friendly. The New Inn at Dawlish Wake does good pub grub and well worth a visit after venturing into the Perry Cider works although the cafe that is advertised on Perry's Web site is no longer open. The facilties on site are clean and tidy and each pitch has its own recycling bin. Cynthia attended to these facilities regularly to sanitise. Can't recommend this site highly enough and we'll certainly be paying them another visit at somepoint.

First caravan trip

A wonderful, peaceful location with stunning views and a very friendly, helpful welcome. This was our first trip in a caravan and I cannot help feeling other sites might be an anti-climax after this!

Outstanding

Stayed here in Sept 2020 for 10 days. Sited our van for our 30+year old kids and spent last three days here yourselves. Owners are delightful, welcoming and relexed. The site is well maintained with short grass pitches, albeit there is a slight slope, but nothing too severe. The view is stunning and without question the best we have experienced. Interesting, but seldom mentioned good bits...great water pressure, Aquaroll fills quickly, pitch to left of gate is flattest (albeit extention lead needed for hook up, owner has one), hedge is kept low to aid view and owner is non commercial and runs the to help guests enjoy.

Owners went the extra mile

Most of the positives about this site have been mentioned before, e.g., the view, the sunsets, the easy access, the peace, the friendliness of the owners. I would just like to add that one feature of this site that is less common in certificated sites, is the many thoughtful touches that Donald & Irene have included. For example, there is a decent length of wide diameter hose attached to the tap which means water tanks can be easily and quickly filled; an extension cable is available if you park too far away from the power supply; and the CDP is clean and convenient - using it isn't the aversive experience you get at some places. There is a good reason why many people return to this site year after year and we intend to do just that!

Everything you want from a CL

Good access. Working farm location with spectacular views from every pitch. Well maintained site with appropriate CL facilities. Amiable and accommodating hosts. Reasonably priced. Local hostelries and shopping nearby. Coast not much further - parking at West Bay only £2 all day at time of review. Pitches are not level and the flint farm track leading to the site might deter some but not us!

2nd amazing stay this year

We’ve been here every year for many years and this year we’ve been twice. It’s an amazing place. Views and sunsets to die for and such a quiet peaceful location. Would be here more if it wasn’t a two hour drive. If you’re worried about noise from the farm, yes some animal ‘moos’ and ‘baas’ and Donald or Cynthia occasionally passing on their tractors. This is a small holding not a large working farm so you’re not disturbed in any way really. The kids love it as they like to go and see the animals and wave the Donald on his tractor. If you’re interested in the workings of the farm Donald and Cynthia are more than happy to share insights to the daily activities. Shortly after arriving you are loaned a information pack on the local area which is really useful. The site isn’t level, so ideally levelling blocks or use some of the wood provided. Left to right often achieved by angle of the van which also aligns with the sunset. This has to be our favourite CL by far. I would recommend this site every day of the week.
