Ideal weekend break

After having our weekend to London scuppered (we were supposed to be seeing Hello Dolly on the Saturday) - we cancelled our original CL booking and decided to book a CL closer to home - and somewhere where ordinarily we possibly wouldn't even have thought of going as it is just up the coast from us. Glad we did. We were made very welcome on our arrival and shown where the motorhome water filling point was. As we were allocated pitch no 2 (pitches 2 and 3 are hard-standing) we decided to pitch up as our hose was long enough to stretch from the water filling point to our outfit. Indeed there was an even closer one next to the recycling/waste/black water disposal point - so - motorhomers - if you are allocated pitch 2 you could very well fill up in situ. I think our hose would have been long enough had we been put in pitch 3 too (we have an extendable 100m hose). Mrs Parker came to greet us once on our pitch. She was very chatty and gave us a couple of leaflets for the local pub - we never used it - instead choosing to have fish and chips on the Friday night from the local chippy, which is a 5 min cycle ride away - so our food was still very hot by the time we got back. We noted there was a public footpath adjacent to the camping field, but we were on our bikes and so cycled round the local area - eventually ending up in Sutton on Sea - before cycling home. On the Sunday Mrs P visited us in the morning to tell us that there was no-one else booked in to our pitch, so we could leave in the afternoon if we so wished. We took advantage and walked down to the sea in between the rain (we did get soaked in another downpour on our way back). The walk there and back was just short of 4 miles (the tide was out but on its way in - we checked the tide times as advised). We picked samphire on the walk back and had it for tea when we got home. There is a "hide" on site. My husband sat in it for half an hour or so - but unfortunately - the local wildlife was very much in hiding! Could have been down to the weather - it wasn't the best over the weekend. Saltfleet itself looked a pleasant little village. We never saw the "haunted church" - we were aware of it but forgot to ask where it was. Maybe next time .........
