We found a little gem.

We loved Holme Farm CL! The owners, Donna & Paul, have obviously put a lot of thought and effort into their site and are understandably proud of their creation. The views are lovely and the sunsets spectacular. Extra little touches such as local info and books are in the smartest loo and chemical waste hut I've ever seen! The site does slope so levellers are required as stated, and being in farming country, there is some noise from the lane from tractors and the occasional lorry, but it didn't bother us at all. There's also the added bonus of a fenced dog run. Our dogs absolutely loved it in there (please pick up after your dogs - it's unfair to leave it for the owners and other caravanners to do it for you!). This really is a gem and we were made to feel very welcome by Donna and Paul and their Springers, Connie & Daisy. Highly recommend Holme Farm. We will definitely be back when next in the West Country. Thank you for a lovely week!

Stunning site, beautiful area

Very peaceful site with a real sense of being in the countryside, a great getaway. All grass pitches add to the atmosphere and mean you can take your pick where to pitch up. No problem with the slight slope of the field and there are two hedges separating the field from a little used road so very little traffic noise. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. It is a great base for discovering the area, although local roads are narrow with high hedges-a character of Devon roads- although the route to the site from the main road was fine with a caravan. Ideal site if you want peace, quiet and relaxation. Poshest chemical waste hut ever! We highly recommend.

We enjoyed our 4 day stay

This was the first CL we had booked for several years. We wanted a rural location with electric hook up and having read the existing reviews, we booked with Donna and Paul for 4 nights in mid July. We were not disappointed in any respect. They are lovely people, very welcoming, and the site is very well presented, and well managed. The view from the pitches is magnificent. The ground does slope but this was easily resolved with the use of our levelling ramps. There is a minor road adjacent to the site, and our visit was at the time that the silage harvest on local farms was in full swing which resulted in the occasional tractor/trailer trundling past the site, but don't be put off by this in any way. It is a minor inconvenience which is significantly outweighed by the friendliness of the owners, and the general quality of the site. Holesworthy (and a Waitrose store) are within a few minutes drive, and is to be recommended. We shall definitely revisit in the future.

Wonderful peaceful stay

We stayed here for a week at half term to avoid the kids, Paul and Donna are great hosts, the site is beautiful and peaceful apart from the odd tractor (it's in the country), lovely to have the sheep, ponies, ducks and chickens all nearby to watch, great location for walks to and from site, there are maps in the facilities shed. If you stay here you really need to try the eggs from the ducks and chickens, they're amazing. The dog exercise area is lovely too. Only one small thing, with a caravan you will need to make sure you have levelling chocks. Apart from that, a lovely site, we will be back very soon.

A wonderful peaceful site

We spent a few nights here in our large Motorhome recently. Access down the lane was fine and there is a wide driveway entrance into the site from the road. It’s a very quiet road so there is no road noise to speak of. We parked up along side the hedge and found we could level up ok with our ramps. We were happy to park alongside anyway as it makes the best of the really fabulous setting and views. Paul and Donna were so welcoming and helpful and are clearly very proud of their site and take care maintaining it. We did some fantastic bike rides along the really quiet local lanes, with grass in the middle of the road often! The local village of Shebbear is picture postcard perfect and has a local shop for essentials. Alternatively there’s a fridge in the porch of the church in Bradford a mile or so away with dairy products and juices working on an honesty payment. Brilliant!

Could be so much better

This is a lovely little CL but to be fair it could be so much better. The views are really lovely. The site is spacious and easy to access although it is definitely ‘slightly sloping’! You will need levelling blocks. Believe me. But it’s fine in a caravan. Harder I would imagine in a motorhome. The improvements .... well to start with the grass needs to be cut shorter and frequently. We have just had a wet few days and you do get a bit fed up with wet feet every time you do the morning chores. There’s pretty much no phone signal. So that means no wifi either. I wonder in this day and age why when you set up a nice CL in this sort of area you don’t add a wifi extender to offer a bonus to your visitors? The TV signal is fine. One more thing. When you’re setting up a site like this why wouldn’t you level off tiers for each pitch even if you don’t travel them? It would make it so much nicer. Don’t get me wrong ... this is a great site. But it could be so so much better. Paul and Donna are great. They will look after you and make you feel welcome so please don’t be put off. I’m just offering my humble opinion that it could be perfection here!

Response from the Club:

Many thanks for your review and we are delighted that you thought this was a lovely CL. Further to your review the CL owners have been in touch to advise that the grass is kept short but due to the wet weather they were unable to cut it as the tractor kept blocking. The grass was cut as soon as the sun came out. They don’t provide WiFi and don’t advertise that they do so it does depends on what phone signal members have. 02 works everywhere on the farm. They have not had any comments before about the site being too sloping and do have large motorhomes  stay on  the site with no issues. They are working really hard to ensure everyone has an amazing holiday at their site so they can enjoy beautiful Devon and hope to welcome you again soon.

Wonderful 3 night stay

Date of Stay - 19/6/19 for 3 nights. We were welcomed on site by Paul who was so helpful in showing us everything on site. This site is very peaceful in a beautiful setting. Paul and Donna had 2 Shetland Ponies whom i walked and groomed. There is also a very friendly dog on site called Connie. Also, chickens, ducks and sheep. The site is slightly sloping but this is not an issue at all. We were also advised when we arrived there is now electric hook up on site. Everything on site is pristine and is a real credit to Paul and Donna. The work they have put into this site is amazing. This site is situated in the middle of beautiful countryside for walks and cycling, watching the sunset and the wildlife. We visited many villages on our walks/cycles but our favourite was a village called Sheepwash (definitely worth a visit). Pubs were approx 2 miles away from site. Numerous cycle routes in the area (very quiet country lanes) including the Tarka Trail. We absolutely loved our very first visit to a CL site and would highly recommend staying here. Thank you Paul and Donna for our amazing stay on our very first CL site - we will definitely return and recommended you to family and friends. Paul and Julie
