Ease of arrival/welcome

What a pleasant surprise!

We arrived at Holmrigg after reading in the caravan club book that there was one hard standing serviced pitch (or that's how we read it) to find that not only were all pitches hard standing with their own electric and water but each pitch also had it's own rubbish bin and recycling bin and crate! We were lucky to go on Pitch 5 with was in an elevated position away from the other pitches with a fantastic view. Being a little higher did mean it was a bit windy but that was a small price to pay for such a fantastic view. Pitches 1 and 2 also had excellent views, with pitches 3 and 4 being at the back of the site and not so clear views. One word of warning - as there had been a heavy downpour prior to us arriving the steep drive up to the site was extremely wet and slippy - we had no problem getting up with our 4X4 however my parents struggled and we had to pull their van up. Blairgowrie was a 5/10 minute drive away. Lovely town with several shops and a large Tesco. The Indian Restaurant Sampan provided us with a beautiful takeaway and we were able to sit outside the hotel opposite having a drink whilst we waited for it. Perth is about 17 miles away and a walk up the Kinnoull Hills is a must - the views from the top are fantastic. Scone Palace was a nice place to visit on our 'rainy day'. Fortunately the rain stopped after we had been around the palace so we were able to walk through the grounds and go into the Tartan Maze. About an hour and a half drive takes you to the Cairngorms. We went on the railway to the top and were lucky to have a fantastic clear day. You could see for miles. We were able to sit on the sofas inside the bar area and sit having a drink with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. All in all a great site in a stunning location.
